Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cool!

Coincedentally, my iTunes is playing a Galaxie 500 song ("Sorry") it selected at random.

Also coincedentally, on my way to the train this morning I stopped to look at a '59 Galaxie 500 parked on the street. '59 was the first year for the Galaxie 500, and it's IMHO one of the most beautiful cars of the era.

Seminal alternative rock trio Galaxie 500

I loved Galaxie 500's music, and I'm even friends with all of them, but I never understood how a band who's entire oevre was borrowed from the Velvet Underground's third album could be called "seminal."

Of course, I'm the guy who didn't think the Pixies were seminal either, so feel free to ignore me.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Was poking around the High Hat and noticed this Modern Lovers article, which I thought bicyclops might be interested in as he included "Pablo Picasso" (Cale version) on his Frankenmix. Loved the Lounge Lizards tune, too. Marc Ribot is great on it. Saw him once & it was awful. Just him and some screeching, writhing Japanese guy; I think it might have been the guy John Zorn used on some of his albums. Anyway, as bad as that was that's how good "Big Heart" is.

The theme we're tossing about for the next issue is "labor issues, as related to various aspects of pop culture."

Okay. I'm drawing a blank, but okay. Did come up with one non-theme clue/answer that I think you'll love. Clue: Peckinpah's advice to the drummer? Answer: Ride the high hat. Yes, I'm aware of the inaccuracy, but it's about the play on words, not the finer points of drumming.

Misha & Lyra Jane: any chance I could talk y'all into writing for the next issue? We're low on articles.

I'm with Jon on Galaxie 500's non-seminality. However, I love their albums. A lot.

Joe, I fuckin' love the clue. And that Modern Lovers article rocked my world, too.

Loved the Lounge Lizards tune, too. Marc Ribot is great on it. Saw him once & it was awful.

That's my experience with Ribot - as a sideman, frequently great, as a frontman, sometimes interesting, but frequently unlistenable.

Glad you like "Big Heart".

And I had caught the Modern Lovers article when hayden posted the link to that issue.

Same here.

Liked that Modern Lovers article and agree with everything Gary says except that I don't need to see him play live every time he passes through. Once every few years is plenty for me.

It's once every few years for me, too. I think too much Jojo might make him grate on me, and I don't want that to ever happen.

Arrrgghhh!.

I leave my house for 20 minutes for a stupid and unproductive meeting with a "career advisor" and I miss the mailman delivering Jon's mix and my uber cool comp CD!!!

See people. This is why trying to be good motivated job seeker is a bad idea.

Now I have to wait til tomorrow to pick it up. No more wasteful job hunting for me, I've learned my lesson.

"An Evening with...Siouxsie (Rescheduled) 26.03.04

Dear Gang, Friends & Fiends

It is with great regret & frustration that we are compelled to announce the rescheduling of this year’s “Evening with Siouxsie” tour dates.

The reason for this is that after her recent successful Sinus operation, Siouxsie has unfortunately contracted a ‘Secondary Sinus Infection’ just three weeks after being given the ‘All Clear’. We could have followed the accepted policy and waited another few weeks to see how the condition ‘responds to treatment’ before taking this decision, but we felt that the risk of having a shorter period of notice would be unfair on everybody.

We know some people have already made travel plans along with their ticket purchase & so we want to give everybody as much time as possible to alter those plans or to obtain refunds if necessary. It’s because we also want to give Siouxsie as much time as possible to make a full & complete recovery that we are rescheduling the tour to start in September.

The exact dates will be announced asap., along with all information regarding any refunds or ticket exchanges required.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this will cause and hope that everyone concerned will understand that it is Siouxsie’s 1000% commitment to her public & her music that has prompted this course of action.

Yours sincerely,

Budgie"
