Angus, I hate La Boheme, but I am thrilled thrilled for your sister. What does she think of this whole ridiculous business at Covent Garden?
Well, yeah, La Boheme isn't really the perfect role for her either (she's more a Wagner/Strauss voice) but it pulls in the punters so lots of people will hear of her! I don't know if she has an opinion about Covent Garden to be honest.
VH-1 showed an hour of Prince videos this morning with lots of less-famous ones. JZ was, predictably, entranced and murmuring, "God, he is so HOT" to herself.
I'd never seen "Thieves in the Temple" and it had some of his best dancing ever. "Diamonds and Pearls" was mostly notable for Robia's presence (under a ton of hair). I hadn't seen "Batdance" in forever and was thinking how much the Bats-likes-carrots crew would like it since it's such an almost fanfic reimagining of relationships (Prince is split Two-faced style, except between The Joker and Batman).
Speaking of splits, has anybody noted this week how freaking impressive it is that Prince can do a James Brown split
in high heeled boots?
Afternoon's activities: play baseball with Emmett, make rare funk mix for Jesse.
Why is it that Kid Rock suddenly seems to be a country artist? I am confused. But he was just on Cuontry Music Television.

He's apparently also a helluva b-baller.
Speaking of VH1, I watched a couple of the bands reunited eps this afternoon. I had never heard of Romeo Void, even though I have always liked their singles quite a lot. It was really interesting (and very sad) to hear that the weight of the singer and MTV pretty much killed a cool band. I wondered why I know their songs so well and yet knew nothing of the band, and I figure that their very un-MTV image must've been why.

Awooo!!! Especially exciting as I plan many upcoming trips.

I remember when "Never Say Never" first came out and what a great song it was to dance to a club.
Romeo Void's "Girl in Trouble" is one of the songs on random play in my brain...it just comes up at odd times. I didn't know the stuff about the singer's weight and MTV, but I'm not surprised.
I believed they toured with U2 when they were both fledging bands.
Romeo Void's singer (sorry, don't have the name at hand) was quite a compelling performer, too.
Now the episode of Bands Reunited with Klymaxx is on! This show is so much more entertaining than I thought it would be.
I got a meetin' in the ladies' room...

Just so you know I
did
write about Klymaxx in the book and included this line alluding to you, Shawn: "The chorus spawned an earworm so potent that women still mutter it as they exit for a bathroom break twenty years later."
