Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
I am completely indifferent to Norah Jones but she was utterly charming on The Daily Show last night. Just a real down-to-earth person.
Almost forgot to mention -- I saw Franz Ferdinand last night. They were good, although not life-changing. I definitely see why Jim referenced the Fire Engines when mentioning them.Sort of a more mersh version of that jagged guitar thing the FE's did so well. FF had the moves down. Both guitar players did that floppy wiggling!hand in the air thing when they weren't strumming. The sold-out crowd at TT's luuurved them. The volume of cheers and woo-hoo's took the band by surprise -- they seemed genuinely embarrassed by it all.

She did seem like a genuinely nice person who was unaffected by her celebrity. Very sweet. And she admitted to being a fellow addict who isn't allowed to have cable because she would watch too much TV. I had cable once for a couple of weeks, but had to give it up when I found myself face down in the TV gutter, watching an "I Dream of Jeannie" marathon at 4:00 in the morning. It's nice to know that Norah Jones was there with me. Like Norah, I make the one concession of having someone tape the Daily Show for me.
tommyrot, you around? Just wanted to let you know that "Dinkytown" from your CD is getting heavy, heavy rotation on my iPod ...

Hmm, but you would never say that about someone who was actually interesting, would you?

This is me. (Or at least that's my rationale that doesn't involve the fact I have other things to spend $50 a month on. Like more CDs.)

I think there's a difference between somene not being a total diva or airhead, and someone being boring. YMMV.
Yes, it probably does a bit.

Cool. That song just sums up the college experience, don't it? It got lots of airplay on a Minneapolis college station about ten years ago. I think Willie Wisely Trio were local to Mpls - I don't know if they ever had a national following.
And I owe you two CDs - I'll get them out Monday.
The iTunes music store is giving me no love today.
I want Adrian Belew. They don't have the song I want. ("Oh Daddy") I want "I'm Only Happy When It Rains." Not there. I want "Stay" done by The Hollies. (I'm not crazy, right, they did do a version of "oh won't you stay ... just a little bit longer"?) Nada.
Feh.
