Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is how these things make them billions isn't it?

It's interesting that they've only sold 30 or 40 million songs, but they're giving away 100 million. much more exposure for them.

actually, they make very little off of selling songs. they're hoping song sales translates into ipod sales.

I'm 2 for 4 in pepsi itunes winnage.

edit: how to cheat in the pepsi itunes givaway.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

Do you have "Bust A Move" on your iTunes? Maybe you should.

I have this! And the iPod gifted me with it today.

Ooh, ROCK.

Now if only I can get my act together on my plan to buy an iPod and an apple laptop...

(But I'm really tempted by the iPod mini. It's so cute! But I feel certain the price will drop. And right now, at that price, where $50 more buys me more than 10 more gigs? Not worth it...but...)

Me too.

My issue is that I have an MP3 player and do not use it (it's clunky, and I don't like having to scroll through all the songs to find anything), so I can't quite justify spending $300 on another MP3 player just because it's cuter, when I might not use it either.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Tom Waits live is so amazing - the songs are very different from the CDs. Also, the musicians he tours with tend to be very good. If you ever get a chace to see Mr. Waits live, kill everyone who stands in your way of tickets.

Because it really can never be said enough (saw his last two tours).

So Bob Dylan? Charges $45 a seat to see him.

I understand that's not out of this world, and I've paid that much before, but it feels like a lot.

On the other hand, he's gonna quit touring SOMEDAY, and I should see him before he retires/dies/charges even more.

Opinions on this first-world problem?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I saw dylan a year or two ago - he was amazing. though i've heard that in recent years his concerts tend to be of the suck.

Aimee, I paid an unconscionable amount of money to a scalper to see U2, and $75 for Bette Midler doesn't sound unreasonable.

It's not so much paying $45 for a concert as it is paying $45 (plus the service fee, so really at least $50) for someone I'm a relatively casual fan of, who seems to be an erratic live performer from what I've heard.

On the other hand ... legend. Who might die/retire at any point, and I would be sad if I *never* saw him perform.

Maybe I should just rent "Don't Look Back."

Ah yes, then that I get. But I tend to only go to concerts when I really really really love the performer.

And I have seen Bette before and she is astounding live. Like, I have never been so entertained than I have been at one of her concerts.
