Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Ha.Ha.

I am the biggest moron in moronia. I got so excited about having a song to buy with my winning bottle caps that I...forgot to use one.

So I still have three free songs.

This is how these things make them billions isn't it?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Maybe if you stopped staring at Hayden and me and paid more attention to your own business.

three posts in a row. i have no shame

hayden - recommendation for sxsw:

Rex Hobart and the Misery Boys

Thursday, March 18 at 10:00 p.m. at Opal Divine's Freehouse (700 W. 6th St.)

Genre: Country

Kansas City, MO These rollicking country music meisters arrive to you from Kansas City by way of Ithaca, to help you two-step your heartache away. While they're decidedly reverent, they are definitely not an aping museum piece. You have not heard straight up, high octane honky tonk done like this in decades. We're serious.

Plus they are really nice guys!!

And I'm sure this will be a busy night and time but - just to point it out:

Split Lip Rayfield

Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 a.m. at Antone's (213 W. 5th St.)

Genre: Bluegrass

Wichita, KS

Bluegrass worthy of being blasted out of the windows of a Plymouth Barracuda with 451 Hemi engine. Their live shows are the stuff of legend. They will whip crowds into a sweaty frenzy - Jeff hunched over his homemade, gas-tank bass, Wayne, the Kirk Hammond of the mandolin, Kirk breaking guitar strings at a furious pace, and Eric, looking the part of a Civil War re-enactor, doing things to a banjo that Eddie Van Halen WISHES he'd thought of. They're headlining one of our showcases this year - come on out and you'll see why.

And now I'll stop doing this.

Right. Back to work. As soon as I finish up these voodoo dolls...

Really reading through the complete band list was just painful. You guys are lucky.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Thanks, Tina! I've actually seen 'em both before, too! (And Kirk what's-his-name of SLR opening for Jonboy Langford.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is how these things make them billions isn't it?

It's interesting that they've only sold 30 or 40 million songs, but they're giving away 100 million. much more exposure for them.

actually, they make very little off of selling songs. they're hoping song sales translates into ipod sales.

I'm 2 for 4 in pepsi itunes winnage.

edit: how to cheat in the pepsi itunes givaway.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

Do you have "Bust A Move" on your iTunes? Maybe you should.

I have this! And the iPod gifted me with it today.

Ooh, ROCK.

Now if only I can get my act together on my plan to buy an iPod and an apple laptop...

(But I'm really tempted by the iPod mini. It's so cute! But I feel certain the price will drop. And right now, at that price, where $50 more buys me more than 10 more gigs? Not worth it...but...)

Up with the sun

But I'm really tempted by the iPod mini. It's so cute!

Me too.

My issue is that I have an MP3 player and do not use it (it's clunky, and I don't like having to scroll through all the songs to find anything), so I can't quite justify spending $300 on another MP3 player just because it's cuter, when I might not use it either.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Tom Waits live is so amazing - the songs are very different from the CDs. Also, the musicians he tours with tend to be very good. If you ever get a chace to see Mr. Waits live, kill everyone who stands in your way of tickets.

Because it really can never be said enough (saw his last two tours).
