Mal: Yeah, well, just be careful. We cheated Badger out of good money to buy that frippery, and you're supposed to make me look respectable. Kaylee: Yes, sir, Captain Tightpants.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I was right up in front of the stage at the performance they show.

Can we see you on the Tee Vee?

NO THANK GOD. Not that I don't want you guys to see me - (hmmm I gotta add a pic to the pic page huh?) it's just - SMALLISH TOWN. Cable access show that most people I know watch. Me at shows = usually kinda drunk and hootin and woo-hoo'in.

"Hey tina - we saw you on Turnpike. Do you always "woohoo" that loud - or only when you're really drunk?"

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

"Hey tina - we saw you on Turnpike. Do you always "woohoo" that loud - or only when you're really drunk?"

"I wouldn't know -- I always get shitfaced at shows!"

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Okay - mild change of topic (though not really, as these guys are supposedly fantastic live):

The Darkness. Who the hell are these guys? The only info I can find on them seems to be regurgitated from their (to put it mildly) bombastic website. The first time I saw the video for "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", I thought they were a Queen tribute band, but that doesn't appear to strictly be the case. So, anyone? Opinions? Laughter? Fear?

Heh. Same question I had, juliana!

Anne, I will really try hard to get msbelle's mix out to you before I go to LA this weekend. But I'm not promising it will happen. Grrr.

Do I have to make the post office weigh it, or can I just figure it cost $1 to send every other CD and throw three stamps on it and slip it in the mailbox?

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

The best live shows I've seen:

Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, circa '85. Jesus, I moshed my ass off.

Sinead O'Connor, 1990. Just at the height of her popularity, she got an entire stadium so silent during an acapella song sung entirely in Gaellic that you could hear the security guard's walkie-talkies. Also, a tutu and combat boots.

Alice Cooper, 1988. Yeah, it was way past his hey-day, but he hung himself on stage.

Crash Worship, 1993. This concert is a story in and of itself, one I don't have time to write right now. If anyone wants me to, I'll do it later.

Howard Jones, 2000. Again, way, way past his heyday, but he played in a small club here in Salt Lake (the Zephyr) when he could have sold out a 5,000 seat stadium (he always plays here, anytime he comes to the US). Very intimate show.

Synthcon 2001. 3 days of unknown bands who play music heavilly influenced by the 80's. It was heaven.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Not sure if anyone other than me & Hayden (and the lurking Julie Beth) will be at SXSW this year, but the schedule is up.
