Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Frail my heart apart and play me a little Shady Grove

Thanks, tina! That reminds me - I can now go back and see the winfield thing you sent me. Yay. It was on Turnpike also, wasn't it? I couldn't get videos to run on my old PC, but I got a shiny new computer, and have downloaded quicktime.

Yup it was on Turnpike too - and Drakkar Sauna was featured in it as well. And that is also when I really started getting annoyed with the host.

Besides him though, I love Turnpike - an excellent showcase of not just Lawrence's music scene - but all the great bands who are always playing here because they love the reception they get from of all the music fans here. All of the episodes feature live performances filmed here in Lawrence and interviews:

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I saw Trailer Bride's first show as a band. Apparently, Melissa Swingle had done a couple of solo acoustic shows previously, but I saw her with her first recruited band at the Cave opening for Shark Quest.

Hey, they're on Bloodshot. That's nationwide.

They filmed the interview portion of the Trailer Bride ep at the skate park across the street from my apt and I was right up in front of the stage at the performance they show. Not that me being nearby is any reason to watch - I'm just all goofy "oooh! that's my bar - it's on TV! That's my park! It's on TV!" about it.

Trailer Bride knocked me out - Melissa Swingle was GREAT.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Can we see you on the Tee Vee?

NO THANK GOD. Not that I don't want you guys to see me - (hmmm I gotta add a pic to the pic page huh?) it's just - SMALLISH TOWN. Cable access show that most people I know watch. Me at shows = usually kinda drunk and hootin and woo-hoo'in.

"Hey tina - we saw you on Turnpike. Do you always "woohoo" that loud - or only when you're really drunk?"

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

"Hey tina - we saw you on Turnpike. Do you always "woohoo" that loud - or only when you're really drunk?"

"I wouldn't know -- I always get shitfaced at shows!"

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Okay - mild change of topic (though not really, as these guys are supposedly fantastic live):

The Darkness. Who the hell are these guys? The only info I can find on them seems to be regurgitated from their (to put it mildly) bombastic website. The first time I saw the video for "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", I thought they were a Queen tribute band, but that doesn't appear to strictly be the case. So, anyone? Opinions? Laughter? Fear?
