A person's concepts should exceed their vocabulary, or what's a metaphor?

Here we go... Unaired episode stuff.

Anyone else who's seen the episodes get the feeling that they were produced in the wrong order?

The final scene of Heart of Gold indicates that it it is happening after Trash/Message. Though now that I think of it, Objects In Space could very well have followed it for the same reason that the other two couldn't have.

Opinions? Insight? Right now I've got my viewing order as (Production order for most of the season), War Stories, Objects In Space, Trash, Message, Heart of Gold.

The "Previously" at the beginning of Heart of Gold (which is just about all I've seen of it since I was only able to download about 5 min) shows scenes from The Message.

And from Trash as well, which places it after the two that have later production numbers. What of OiS? That came after HoG in production and doesn't contradict what happens at the end of HoG which Message and Trach both do. So, is it Trash, Message, HoG, OiS? OiS, Trash, Message, HoG? Something else? I'm leaning toward the latter rather than the former because the end of HoG makes such a great cliffhanger for the second season. And I can't believe that the story is ending, so loose ends assist my delusion.

Just rewatched OiS. It has the same problem in coming after HoG as Trash and Message. Either HoG should go last in the series or Joss and Tim dropped a big ol' bombshell on us at the end of one episode and then completely ignored it for the rest of the season.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

When I think about Inara's distance from everyone in OiS, I suspect it might be last. Not sure, though.

Not so sure on OiS being the last. She voices the same concerns in it that she does in Trash which seem to not be there so much in HoG. She wouldn't be complaining about it if she were sticking to her word, she'd be working on doing what she said she'd do.

Trying to obscure the details for those who might not have seen it yet. Whitefont might be easier...

Why would Inara be concerned that they havn't been going anywhere with a decent clientelle if she was intending on leaving? I'd think she'd either be discussing her departure or making arrangements to find another transport.

Dude. You're in a spoiler thread. White font not neccesary.

And I had forgotten that point, so yeah, I think you're right. Looks like HoG is last.

So I guess the real order is War Stories, OiS, Trash, the Message, HoG?

Makes sense to me.

That's my assumption on the order as well. Someone needs to get Tim in here to set us right about it. But until that happens, I'm going to go with the above as the proper story order.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Or frelling Joss who was in the regular Firefly thread. Oh well.

So why was HoG scheduled and then shelved in place of OiS? Because OiS was a better episode? Or because it was a Joss episode? Everyone knows the order of the season was fudged for various reasons, and if HoG was obviously later, then maybe they had that in place in case Fox dropped the axe early (no puns intended), but, when they thought they might have another chance, they pulled out OiS as a big gun ep?

I think it'll take someone 'in the know' to set that record straight. Hopefully the DVDs will all be in proper story order, or at least give us some sort of explaination why the cliffhanger from HoG gets ignored in all three later episodes.
