Wilf was the man.
Yep, our mint just said, too bad so sad on the bills and pulled em and didn't make any more. Kind of encouraged the use of the coins. Supposedly it is significantly cheaper (the bills wear out fast), so I can only imagine that it must be at least ten times more potential savings in the US if the $1 got replaced with a coin.
Oh, yeah. Apparently the special coins the mint produces are
very
collectible.
Oddly unattractive, given it's value.
Much like the Queen herself!
t runs away
The Queen was pretty when she was younger. I must say that they chose a particularly unattractive portrait for the most recent coins and bills.
The Queen had a goofy nose in her youth too. And her chin was too small.
To me, the worst thing about our money is that the queen is on it. Makes me wanna go all Braveheart all over the place. But I've come to like the coins. By the time twenties are replaced they'll be heavy enough to do some real damage.
We don't have enough PMs that are recognisable enough to put on currency. We can't use Trudeau - too soon, methinks, and 'twould be controversial. Dief and Pearson are out. St Laurant... Anyone remember what he looks like? Clark, Mulroney and Campbell are still alive. As is Turner.
Besides, who would want money with Mulroney on it?
Oh, lot's of people took MulrooneyMoney in the past. I don't figure it'll be a problem. Just so long as they don't have to get it legally.
Is Diefenbaker the PM who axed the Arrow? We should put him on the three dollar bill as a tribute to folly.
It'll be paper even when the rest are coins.
