And even more so hearing it again in "You're Welcome" -- just finding out that Angel had kept that tape all that time wrecked me all over again.
Yup yup yup. Salvaged from the wreck of the first building, kept all those years ...
Where's the tissues?
"Is that it? Am I done?"
HELL yes.
Also, not necessarily making me weepy, but possibly the best gut-punch entrance in the whole damned 'verse ----
"There's no one left on Earth that can stop me now."
"I'd like to test that theory."
GILES!!!!
Damn, that was a hell of a moment on the board.
Ooh, Sean just gave me a recollecting shiver.
That was one of my favorite TV moments EVER.
"Is that it? Am I done?"
That just made me wonder... was Doyle the first friend Angel made since he (mostly) stopped being evil? I wouldn't count Buffy because of the big tragic predestined love thing, but I'm not quite sure whether Willow would count as a friend in her own right or just the girlfriend's best friend.

Seems like. And even then, most of the work to bring about the friendship was done on Doyle's part. It takes a lot of work to be a friend of Angel's.

well, there was Whistler. and I seem to recall something about how they wanted Whistler for the series, but the actor was in rehab or something?
