Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

So, uh, how about that Joss poking his own eye out with his cross-series crush object near the end of S7?

Ah, see you're missing the idea that in syllogism logic, both the first and second points need to be true in order for the third to be true. Since B/X is not the OTP, Xander is not necessarily a Mary Sue.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't think things ever went well or tragically enough for him, or he was highly enough regarded to be a Mary Sue.

Just authorial insertion.

I can't even.

No, I get it. The show doesn't really offer us any OTP, in the end, so we're just riffin' here. Thus, my snerk about Joss' masochistic crush on Nate. My suggestion was that B/X was OTP, because it's all about Joss, thus sparking horror (because, y'know, normal guy, not psychotic dead demon). However, that doesn't allow me to get into the real OTP, Buffy/Giles.

Nobody

I don't think B/X is OTP, I just think it was possible at a number of points. I would've preferred that they had a romance and then became friends after that. Ple has convinced me that Buffy should be with Wes.

But Plei is wrong. Buffy needs to go erm...work out her issues with Wesley. They part, their relationship help Wes come to terms with his failure as a watcher and the daddy issues it exacerbated. Buffy, having finally been involved in a relationship of her choosing, not forever from the get go (and also working out her daddy issues), in the end, ends up with Xander.

(BECAUSE THEY ARE THE OTP!!!!!!!!)

Disaffected college student

Alls I know is, after reading Victor's FE tie-together, I can't ditch D/X.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Err. In a couple of years...

I had a friend who dated a 16 year old when he was in his early 20s. He said he didn't realize until later how, er, notable, that age difference was.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I was shocked and appalled by how young the girlfriend of one of my friends in college was (although her family's approval of the pairing apparently cleared up any legal quandries). He wisely waited to tell me until after they'd broken up - her friends started getting their drivers' licenses and suddenly dating a guy almost half her age again didn't seem so cool.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

Overrated: Xander's speech to Dawn in "Potential." It's not special. It's not extraordinary. It's just too long. I don't hate the text, but I get antsy watching it.

Underrated: "Primeval." I watched this before all the eps where the Initiative was only three guys sneaking past a bush and Adam was "let me read you this encyclopedia I downloaded from my floppy drive." The first time I saw Adam and the Initiative, he had an army and a messiah complex and they had a huge shiny compound and a doomed last stand. They were both cool. "Primeval" is one of my most-rewatched episodes.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

hairloaf bogarting the chicks, IIRC, but then he got punished.

"Man that guy got some major neck in his day"

Sorry, that's going back a ways, but I'm catching up late.
