Wenda - if Spike and Buffy did have sex in the pre-school bus scene, how does that mitigate your bad feelings about her? I know we're not going to agree, but in all other instances, I understand your points even if I know they are horribly misguided.

I realized late last night why they made such a big deal about everyone clearing out of Sunnydale. The whole town collapsing into the hellmouth would be kinda horrifying if it was peopled at the time.

But it woulda been a lot more ballsy and gothic, with the town of Sunnydale having to pay the ultimate price in order to allow Buffy more time to go shopping for shoes.

Then I thought of the way that line would be handled on Sports Night.

Jeremy:"They had sex in a preschool bus?"
Natalie: "Not preschool, pre-schoolbus"
Jeremy: "Seems to be a time when preschool busses were sacred."
Dana, Walking in: "Sacred schoolbus sex? And here I thought you two were somewhat normal."
Natalie and Jeremy: "We're normal!"
Dan walks in. "Who's normal?"
Dana: "I thought they were."
Jeremy: "We are. We're normal"
Casey, pops head in. "Who wants normal, I think they're cute together."
Dana: "They are cute, it's just this sex in a sacred preschool bus thing that has me worried."
Casey: " Sacred schoolbus? That's not normal."
Dan: "That is not normal."
Dana: "See? not normal"
Natalie:"We're normal!"

I don't have anything to add, you guys and gals said all the good and not so good things I was thinking after I saw the episode last night. Today, though, I'm past all the continuity problems and time wasted in S7, and I'm just grateful. The finale kicked ass.

I know some people think that the slayer-awakening-montage was cheesy, but I loved it more than anything. Did any of you guys see the Domestic Violence documentary on PBS a few weeks ago? When I watched it I had an epiphany about how much our culture sucks, how the women in that movie (both the abused women and their counselors) were so fucking strong and effulgent and how everything powerful and awesome about women and men is whitefonted in America right now. Because, let's face it, women's appearance may be obsessed over in every tv show, every movie, every magazine--but our beauty is ignored.

When Buffy gave her speech it was so, just, sublime. We don't have to play by their rules. We keep doing it, but we could revolt tomorrow. One slayer in all the world never seemed practical to me. How was one girl even gonna make a dent? But one girl is easier to control and that's what the Watcher's Council and all the other Big Bads did. They made the slayer play by their rules. Until Buffy.

I'm already picturing the gang forming a Slayer's Collective. I think it's near a beautiful lake somewhere. And everyone is welcome and all knowledge is free.

Wow. Finally reached the end. Okay - -I had other things keeping me away from the thread.

Really enjoyed the finale - - although it left me feeling abit - - I don't know empty? Lonesome - - because it's the end.

I watched it twice last night - - I never saw Buffy's plan coming - - although I guessed that whatever they would do would involve Willow. I didn't start tearing up 'til the Andrew-Xander conversation and then I would get all teary for the rest of the evening. . .while I was watching 24, WNTW, Lucky . . .

Of course, the second time around I got teary when Buffy was out on her porch for the last time.

I just rewatched, and one thing that stood out this time was how Faith was finally integrated into the group. Buffy, when she thought she was down for the count, handed the axe to Faith and told her to "hold the line." In a way, she truly acknowledged Faith as the Slayer. At the end, she was standing with the core four (and Dawn) and even joined in with the teasing and banter. Willow, of all people, played along with the "you've got my vote" line.

Once more, I was gobsmacked by Vi's toughness, and the look on the face of the abused girl as she blocked her abuser's fist.
