Buffy 4: Grr. Arrgh.
This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.
Wow. Finally reached the end. Okay - -I had other things keeping me away from the thread.
Really enjoyed the finale - - although it left me feeling abit - - I don't know empty? Lonesome - - because it's the end.
I watched it twice last night - - I never saw Buffy's plan coming - - although I guessed that whatever they would do would involve Willow. I didn't start tearing up 'til the Andrew-Xander conversation and then I would get all teary for the rest of the evening. . .while I was watching 24, WNTW, Lucky . . .
Of course, the second time around I got teary when Buffy was out on her porch for the last time.
I just rewatched, and one thing that stood out this time was how Faith was finally integrated into the group. Buffy, when she thought she was down for the count, handed the axe to Faith and told her to "hold the line." In a way, she truly acknowledged Faith as
the
Slayer. At the end, she was standing with the core four (and Dawn) and even joined in with the teasing and banter. Willow, of all people, played along with the "you've got my vote" line.
Once more, I was gobsmacked by Vi's toughness, and the look on the face of the abused girl as she blocked her abuser's fist.
One slayer in all the world never seemed practical to me. How was one girl even gonna make a dent? But one girl is easier to control and that's what the Watcher's Council and all the other Big Bads did. They made the slayer play by their rules. Until Buffy.
Bless you. I have been saying that to anyone who would listen since Get It Done (erm... also since Checkpoint but that's a whole 'nutha community).
And Daniel - ew, I second your ewww, but raise you a bwah.
*note to self - watch how you word things, see pre-school bus ewww*
Whew. I reached the end of the thread, all emotionally wrung out. Sniff. So many beautiful moments made it a little easier to see the characters I've grown to love ride off into the sunset, free. Loved Buffy's smile. It had a world of dawning possibility in it. Wherever her life takes her now, I am sure it will be full of adventure. And shoes!
The Actual End is much like my personal Fantasy End: I saw the Scoobies running a Slayer School, thus making the world a safer place "where Hope can lift her lantern." I didn't get Hogwarts, Slayer Style, but the female empowerment thing? I loved that Buffy got to turn the original Watcher plan right on its ear.
And if I dare schmoop a bit, knowing that the Buffistas will continue after 5/20/03 has put a warm glow in my grieving fangurlie heart. Buffistas rock. All of you. A lot.
So, thanks!
Oh my god. That Dork Tower strip that Aimee linked to is just perfect.

Stop making me cry!
Oh, and Daniel? I had the bestest dream that you wrote a filk and got JM to perform it for the Buffistas. We were all suitably impressed, too. It's a nice day for a White Willow, rowr!
Buffy, when she thought she was down for the count, handed the axe to Faith and told her to "hold the line."
The movement of the Notafricking!scythe is actually rather fascinating. Willow sends Kennedy to pass it to Buffy; Buffy uses it until she falls, then passes it to Faith; Faith uses it for a bit and then (I don't recall how) passes it to Rona, who passes it back to Buffy when she's on her feet again. It becomes another symbol of the girls sharing their power. Tres cool.
Okay, I go to visit family for one day...not even a full 12 hours and there are 256 posts! See,
this
is why I cannot leave the computer for lengthy periods of time.
So I'm kinda caught up...Plei, the evil cow. May I tag? I like cows, I think they are cute, it's kind of fitting.
Also one thing I forgot to mention last night, but a small detail I wouldn't normally notice on the first watch. Buffy was wearing
pointy
shoes during her battle. And okay, I get that is sort of in now, but pointy dress shoes? Come on...wear you damn knee highs, its the end of the world as we know it, bust out some ass-kicking gear. Anyway, after the Magic School Bus stops and Buffy jumps off, the scene where they show her leaping to the ground, my sister was like "hey, the shoes aren't pointy anymore!" Clearly the pointy shoes should have been omitted altogether, they either got nubbed down during the battle...or the stunt double couldn't hack the big leap with the pointy shoes.
I think this works nicely with Buffy's desire for shoes. And, subsequently, mine. That is all.

heh. Wow. I'm....honored to be filking in your dreams.
DCJ-- LURVE the
Sports Night
! Dead on.
Season Five: Buffy dies/Buffy gets to live her life for real.
Also, a portal is closed thanks to someone's self-sacrifice
And he LOVED her and admired her because she was the only thing that he ever believed in and he emulated her and
t dissolves into tears
but--as we've learned these past two season--Spike has an immense reluctance to put on clothes unless he really, really has to. If he could, he'd be all nude, all the time.
I am posting in slippers! Hee!
Not in the first scene. We think they did it in the SECOND scene, where she comes in from outside, they look at each other, and the next thing we see is a school bus outside an abandoned school, an obvious symbol of the fundamental emptiness of sex with a dead man.
BWAHHH!
It seemed to me like on some level Spike was horrified at his connection to the Turok Hans. I'm not able to really articulate this right now, so I'll let someone else do it for me.
Yes! I felt that too. James Marsters is an amazing actor who can express in the silence and the tiny motions.
Wow! Every time I think about that insecure little girl at the plate suddenly no longer being insecure, and how far she's gonna hit that ball, I just get all teary.
Man, Sean, all of the GOOD cyber-husbands are taken!
Angel/Spike/Lindsey. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
t Trudy dies
I like that we don't know what Spike and Buffy did. It was private.
