I 've been hands under the shirt, over the bra, Calvins in a wad on the front seat with some S7 Buffy spoilers - but we never went all the way ~tinaf

Oooooohhh...smoster, I love that movie. So much schmoop, plus some ice skating.

And of course, the whole magnet flip thing.

The problem is that they've just had Spike come on the screen and say "I have a soul now, I am redeemed," and had Buffy go "okay."

This is telling. Not Showing.

In Touched, Spike's seeking her out and holding her all night was a "show". In End of Days, Spike talking about his feelings for her, blah blah blah was a "tell". Sometimes they get it just right. Then they screw it up.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Yeah, the auction didn't have anything epsiode related. Dammit, I wanted to see Mr. Gordo! Or the demon mask from S3, or Oz's guitar, or the sword that sent Angel to hell. Stuff with meaning.

Up with the sun

Did anyone check out the official Buffy auction? I didn't get excited about anything they offered - plus people are bidding crazy, insane amounts!

I'd love some of the stuff they had, but I can't spend a paycheck on a $5 bauble that sat on a set for 30 seconds once.

Yeah, I kinda wish I could.

"You got twelve, and they got twelve. The old ladies are just as good as you are." -Dr. Einstein

Both books look quite good-I'll probably alternate chapters between them.

The problem is not whether Spike should be allowed redemption; it's not whether there's a difference between Souled!Spike and Unsouled!Spike; it's not whether Spike should be allowed to win back Buffy's heart AR or no AR. The problem is that they've just had Spike come on the screen and say "I have a soul now, I am redeemed," and had Buffy go "okay." This is telling. Not Showing.

I hope it doesn't come as too much of a shock that I strongly disagree-that I think much of the season has been about showing Spike's rocky path to redemption (and Buffy's gradual acceptance of same), that imo it has done so both convincingly and often brilliantly (starting with the church seen in Beneath You, which I consider one of the ten greatest scenes in the entire series). And that last night showed that Spike's trials are not over yet-the FE is trying to use jealousy to undo what has been achieved-a final test of Spike's progress.
