Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

Thing is it doesn't feel to me like most people use their real names here, it feels much more like a 50/50 split.

I would agree with ND on this. It's good to have in the FAQ as a historical note, though.

Also, there may be a minor drawback to noting the real name thing prominently - it may confuse new people when it comes to posters who have real-sounding fake names, as there are still quite a few of those here as well.

It seems from an inside perspective [snip] that you'd get a different set of names depending on who you asked. Perhaps that also depends on whose point seems to make the most sense to you/who you know best/any other random factors.

Yes this.

I might give one list of names. Somebody else's list would include me.

It's just population dynamics.

implies that "the problems" are a fact, which is a rather large assumption itself, IMO.

Yes this too.

Depending on who you ask, the list of Problems What Must Be Confronted would be different (sometimes radically) from Buffista to Buffista.

I guess the active posters bit reminded me of the old GO14 kerfuffle. Good times. (Not.)

Is it time for another round of the Talkiest Meat Awards?

We could talk Mike vs. Joel instead, if you like. :)

This is going to have to be the name of a thread one of these days.

Maybe we can give the lurkers their own thread.

Wouldn't get much use though.

My first experience with fandom kerfuffle was Mike vs. Joel. I wasn't even lurking anywhere, just checking out MST stuff on-line and you couldn't avoid hearing about it. Too. Much. Especially since I liked them both for different reasons (not to start a discussion...or is it?).

Although in some of the places I was poking around, it had gotten to the "we don't talk about that" stage of the game. Post-scorched earth, so to speak.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
