Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Nobody

I don't relish the whole argument of what constitutes "major", and then the ensuing bickering when someone posts an announcement not deemed sufficiently major for someone with their crankypants on.

Beep Me is neither a heavy traffic thread nor a mandatory one. Let's assume a little tolerance and common sense will carry us through here.

No but it's kind of drifted from its original purpose. More to the point, some folks use Beep Me as a quick way to check on the community and they're more interested in seeing Baby arrivals and new jobs than notices that somebody is going to be away from their computer for 36 hours.

I know. And I seldom post there. But I don't think we ought to over-legislate. I'm with Astarte.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Perhaps so, but even with the additional posts, there's just not that much to wade through there. It's already a pretty effectively self-regulated thread.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Perhaps so, but even with the additional posts, there's just not that much to wade through there.

Yup. Just to try to bring this all back into perspective, there are currently 948 posts in Beep Me, which averages out to about 3 posts a day since we opened. If even a third of those are "going away for the weekend" posts, cutting those out only gets us down to 2 posts a day. By comparison, Bitches and Natter are each currently averaging 300+ posts per day. In other words, the natter thread takes *three days* to produce the same number of posts as eleven months worth of Beep Me.

I tend to agree that weekend posts in Beep Me aren't especially necessary, but the posting volume in Beep Me is not the problem.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, but that's not always the case. When Rio was looking for Hayden, for example, she could have popped over to Beep Me to see that he was gone. (Me having no actual idea if Hayden posted there or if Rio reads that thread, so please don't hurt me, FUCKO.)

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I have my profile set to load 50 posts at a time. I'm going to change it to 75, now.

Pfaugh! I'm set at 100.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Me too. Been 100 since we got here, almost.

I got tired of hitting "next" and waiting. I can skim more efficiently.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

What's the rationale behind 7 again? I was just going to go for 10.

There was a concern voiced that some of the numbers getting thrown around were too high. So I was suggesting a compromise between 5 and 10.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

I remember making a suggestion a few of months ago to have the Buffy quotes available like the BROQ, so that people can go sit at that generator and amuse themselves.

Michele has a quote generator at [link] Do you want to add it to the links page?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Sorry about my bad post in Beep me. I could have sworn I was in Natter.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
