Sorry about my bad post in Beep me. I could have sworn I was in Natter.
Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Spankings!
I did the same thing, Perkins.
That happened to my Happy Birthday Fay post a couple of days ago. I was pretty sure I wasn't in Beep Me. Sorry about that, ita-who-mends.
Note to self: Read New is dangerous when you're on a conference call and not paying as much attention as you should.
Note that the thread name is in bold face right above the posting box.
(not judging; just pointing it out)
That's the only drawback I've found with "read new" instead of "read next" within a given thread: if you copy something to respond to and hit new, you're likely to find yourself in an entirely different subbed thread. I've managed two "D'OH!" moments, which is a pretty small percentage of Homers, all things considered.
Training myself to look. at. thread. title. before posting. Truly.

Hence the D'oh-- pay attention comment.

Indeed it is. Thing is, if I've got six windows open, am working on novel, pushing cat off keyboard, phone is ringing, etc yada onwards, all the script on the page except that which I am actively reading or typing at that precise moment becomes a splotch of grey against white. Other thing is, I'm on similar layout boards that don't have the thread name above the postbox, so the retraining thing is actually a project.
But slowly, I progress to remembering to check above the box and see where I am. Man, internet time is not like realtime. Nanoseconds seem like forever.
Note that the thread name is in bold face right above the posting box.You know, I seriously never noticed that. I keep looking at the page info at the top of my browser to make sure I am posting in the thread I intend to.
Go Team "Ignore the Obvious" Me...
Thanks Jon.
t goes to bang head against the wall for D'OH moment
