I would think that the logical place to discuss the OC or Tru Calling would be in Natter in whitefont until the West Coast airs it. Isn't that what is done with TAR?
There's also the option of turning the Buffy thread into an all-purpose TV thread.
(Oh god, I'm turning into a proliferationista. Make it stop!)

I wouldn't do this, because it's not instinctual.
BUT... if we made "previously" the sole buffy thread;
cut "buffy spoilage light";
cut the main buffy thread;
and added a general TV thread,
we're actually still down one.
Oh god, I'm turning into a proliferationista. Make it stop!
Nah, you're talking about repurposing a thread; I'd only send the men in white coats for you if you started wanting a dedicated thread for every show that three or more people wanted to talk about.
Lyra, make that a formal proposal, and I'll second it.
Feh, I so don't want a general tv thread. I hate the general

threads.

This is more what I was thinking -- replace either Buffy or Previously with a general TV thread. If people want that.
(And I agree that it's probably time to archive Buffy Spoilage Light.)
While I'm pretty much against thread proliferation in that I think careful consideration should go into the creation of new thread so we don't end up with:
Bowling 9: Pick up the spare!
It would seem that Buffistas without Buffy is in the middle of evolving.
Tru has former Buffy writer Doug Petrie on staff as well as a Buffyverse actor. Jake 2.0 is produced by David Greenwalt. Gilmore Girls has Jane Espenson on staff. Wonderfalls is produced by our Tim. Smallville has its own thread, and also featured Drew Greenberg on staff. Mere Smith moved on to Tarzan, and Rebecca Rand Kirshner has gone...sheesh I can't remember.
The OC and TAR have had whitefont Natter discussion, which is fine, it doesn't seem to take over the thread and the audience seems pretty limited.
I just wonder if it doesn't make sense to spin out a general television thread as an outlet for our teevee habits now that Buffy is gone, and Firefly is finishing up for UKistas. It's not so much about proliferation for me, as it is about organization. I think it was Angel or Firefly that became a de facto Miracles thread for some time.
Creating separate threads for each show is risky because any of them could get canceled if a cool breeze tickles the balls of the nearest teevee exec, but a way to organize discussion of shows is a good idea.
Also, housekeeping on dead shows is a good idea. Come December we can consolidate the Firefly threads, and we can also finish out Buffy and Buffy Spoilage Lite, right?
Hmm. I'd rather wait and see if any of the new shows seem to be taking off (with us, if not the general viewing public) before moving them from Natter. Although I do think that if individual shows seem to find a home in another thread, like OC with whichever one it's in or Stargate in Due South, that that's okay as well.
Hmm, I really dislike whitefont discussion. I know some people go "what's the big? You highlight the white font" but it just bugs me seeing big gaps on the page, and I don't want to read it. I think this is a problem with doing TV discussion in Natter.
I do think we're evolving post Buffy. Unlike Burrell, I like the general threads. We grandfathered over a lot of threads which look really inconsistent now. I think it would be a good time to streamline and combine and repurpose. I think a priority would have to be for respecting the active communities in threads like LoTR or Due South (in my mind, the de facto HoYay thread). Aside from that, it would be nice to have a bit more logic in our structure.
If we don't have a general TV thread, I suspect the Tim thread might become a sort of BtVS alumni thread. But that's...even more inconsistant and weird. Would we discuss Gilmore Girls because Jane writes for them now?
What about a Buffyverse Alumni TV thread?
