We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
And I get that, but all the same, I think it's legitimate for someone who has spent a lot of time, thought, and effort into picking out a gift for someone to feel bummed and a little burned if they get absolutely nothing in return, so it bothers me that it's written into the proposal that they have to have an upbeat attitude about it.

We can take that parenthetical out if it's going to be an issue. It was never meant to actually dictate an attitude.
Proposal: To set a closing deadline of March 31st for the Goodbye and Good Riddance Thread, with the caveat that any ungifted Santa or Slacker Santa giftees at that point will have the option to throw their names back into the pool to be gifted by other volunteers. This would be a way for people who found themselves unable to gift for one reason or another to bow out gracefully and for everyone to get closure on the year without the thread going on for months.

I'm in favor of the proposal as worded and think it's a good idea.

Just so I have this clear in my mind, at the end of March if anyone remains ungifted, Goodbye and Good Riddance would remain open for another month for the round of pinch-gifting (which would go on until the end of April?)
When does Goodbye and Good Riddance open, again, is that set?

I'm just a crazy little lurker, but thank you for bringing up that adjustment in wording. I was trying to write that post, but failed. I wish I were the type of person that didn't get hurt by things like this, but I am not, and I am sure there are others. I understand that shit happens, and I sympathize with people to whom it happens, but I am unable to get past it anyway (call it the downside of ISTJ-ness). I don't participate in exchanges like this for that reason, because I know myself too well.
