I really think there's a lot of condescension and insult on all sides of the argument, so I'm not sure why I'm being singled out.
I guess it is your turn. We've all been singled out in the past. I know you, and you're a close friend, and I know you don't intend to be fanning the flames. That's why I felt the need to call you on it.
I also firmly believe that even if I perceive that my opposition is using tactics that I consider inappropriate, that mean I should use those tactics.
I still don't understand the desire to not have new threads or all the discussion (that is mostly kind of mean and spends a lot of time trying to make the "other guy" the bad guy), but then I have only been here 5 years or so and still feel like a total newbie.

Pope's in town. You made inappropriate jokes. We'll get Joe and Drew later. *smooch*
Hey, the pope was asking for it, wearing those bright red FMP's and that half see through robe.
Ratzinger's a sexy beast.
Okay, I had to go away for a meeting.
I did want to point out that I do agree with Sean here:
But I would like to take this opportunity to point out that the anti-proliferationistas are just as vehement in their stance, yet it is the new thread proposers who are asked to not be so vehement in their desire for a new thread.
I tend to agree with Wolfram in that, while I am not anti-proliferation, I really don’t want anyone who wants to create a thread to be able to do. This position often seems lost in this discussion and often the response to a request for a new thread is greeted with something like msbelle’s comment in bureaucracy:
oh hell. SERIOUSLY!!! just open a thread for every single thing anyone wants, just do it and stop all the talk, it is so tiresome already.
All this to say that, while I think that Sean has perhaps been too vehement is his position, I understand why he feels on the defensive.

I'm kicking puppies and eating babies right now, AIFG!
Gaming is a subject Sean clearly cares about a great deal. That caring comes out in what he's saying. Ditto MM, but then if he didn't care, he wouldn't have proposed the new thread.
And I think everyone on both sides of this discussion cares about the board and wants what's best for it. There's honest disagreement about what that best is. It's also pretty clear that, at some level, people recognize that -- or maybe it's just board culture. But I'm not seeing any namecalling or other signs of flaming.
