Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

See! And this all would never have happened if we hadn't had a natter thread! I blame BHP!

I think you can blame Lyra Jane if you want, because wasn't she the first one to suggest a Natter thread, which was roundly shot down?

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

And I also don't think that creating a one-show thread is going to make this community no longer a community.

Definitely agreed as we already have one-show threads. But this is the first time I can recall vocal people who watch the show not wanting a new thread.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

We built in methods for change and adaptation, and while those methods are creaky and slower than some people would like, they do work. They are working.

Um, aren't those the methods that what we're using vis-a-vis the potential SPN thread? How is the process being side-stepped or subverted?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yes. We all thought Lyra Jane was crazy, wanting to take the Natter out of the Buffy threads.

There is that, though. Hrm.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Steph, I'm no longer talking about a single thread dedicated to SPN, I've more or less conceded on that count. But I am trying to respond to the calls for dedicated threads for every show anybody's interested in talking about. That seems to be where this is headed, one show at a time.

And I was addressing Connie's post.

Yes, I said so.

Again, I was responding to Connie's post.

I should get lunch.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

But this is the first time I can recall vocal people who watch the show not wanting a new thread.

Totally.

But since Boxed Set is a bucket thread, there are 2 groups being affected: (1) SPN watchers, and (2) other denizens of Boxed Set.

The SPN watchers feel like they're being kicked out and prevented from mediafannish discussion, while the other denizens of Boxed Set feel like the high volume of SPN posts makes it hard to discuss any other mediafannish shows.

But now the SPN watchers say they wouldn't feel welcome back in Boxed Set anyway, and the other Boxed Set denizens are saying "Hey, we like you; we're just trying to make mediafannish discussions easier for everyone!"

Is that about right?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, and wasn't Lyra Jane's intent to get the natter out of the way of the Buffytalk? So we come from a long and proud tradition of creating threads based on not wanting to talk about the topic in the existing thread! Heh.

Okay, sorry for this contentless digression.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That's my take.
