Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I read all the whitefont! Compulsively.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I understand wanting to talk about shows obsessively--hey, I'm here too--but I truly believe that our community is too strong and too vibrant to be splintered by something as simple as subscribing to a few more threads.

I'm running out of here but I wanted to get a chance to address this. Because at the same time we were at WX, there was a forum of TT refugees who created a thread for pretty much every tv show under the sun. And while that place was ideal for separating out every TV discussion you ever wanted to have, for getting your own threads with only a couple posts a day, for nonspoilage...there's a reason that forum never bought their own domain and there isn't a "Will the TT TV People Leave the Lobby."

I watch things when I read interesting discussions about them and people intrigue me.

I (and at least a couple other Buffistas I know) find and watch TV shows in a completely different manner.

I find shows that I like, through various means, and then want to watch and have interesting discussions with Buffistas afterwards.

Especially for the spoiler averse, this is completely at odds with the desire to find and watch shows in this media fandom cross-pollination atmosphere.

And I know (because you've said as much) that the media-fandom types feel like they are no longer wanted or appreciated on the board (which I don't think is true), but the non-cross-pollinationy people are feeling the same way (which is not to say they are on the other side of this debate, in fact, most of them probably don't post in Boxed Set because it doesn't work for them).

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

There's still a pretty active TV forum at WX. I don't know if it's the same one you're talking about, but I post there, so does sumi, le nub, ita, and probably some other Buffistas I'm forgetting.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

a thread for pretty much every tv show under the sun. And [snip] that place was ideal for separating out every TV discussion you ever wanted to have, for getting your own threads with only a couple posts a day, for nonspoilage.

Thank you, bon. I have wanted to suggest that place as an alternative for people who want to talk about only one show at a time. An added bonus is that there's a larger pool of people there, so you can actually have an interesting discussion that's single-show focused. I honestly don't think that type of single-show focus could ever happen here, with a smaller overall pool of people, on a non-paid-subscription board. I, for one, wouldn't want it to. I like multi-themed discussion. It seems to be the way that Natter, Bitches, Boxed Set, Astounishing, Music, and maybe other threads work, an ebb and flow of conversation, with pockets of deeper discussion. I think we do that well.

FTR, I like Boxed Set. I enjoy reading the discussions and the whitefont, even of shows I don't watch. I just don't think it works so well for shows that generate considerably more posts than others.

Dana, would you mind pointing me at the TV forum at WX? I'd like to drop in.

And I know this is not how you mean it, but that very strongly comes across as "You Are Not Welcome Here," in much the same way that the "Will the SPN People Please Leave the Lobby" sentiment in Boxed Set is clearly making some other people around here feel right now.
