I honestly don't think that type of single-show focus could ever happen here, with a smaller overall pool of people, on a non-paid-subscription board.

And I know this is not how you mean it, but that very strongly comes across as "You Are Not Welcome Here," in much the same way that the "Will the SPN People Please Leave the Lobby" sentiment in Boxed Set is clearly making some other people around here feel right now.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, and the Reality TV forum: [link]

Happy! Happy! Everyone happy!

Art Crawl!!!

Now the difference between TT TV at WX and here is that you subscribe to the forum not individual threads so if you are trying to be unspoiled for something you can never use "read new."

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm glad you know, Sean, because I rewrote it for a good five minutes and then hesitated for another three or four before hitting post.

I'm sincerely curious--do you think with our present setup that we could support a thread for every show that every poster watches and wants to talk about? Is that really what people want?

Please understand, I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm honestly attempting to understand other people's POV, and this is alien to me. When there is already at least one board with a very wide range of single-show threads, and a larger pool of posters, would anybody sincerely want to replicate that here? And if so, why?

I don't know, but I've seen a lot of discontentment about TV posting lately, and all our voting has not solved it.

I do want us all to be happy though.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

There's still a pretty active TV forum at WX. I don't know if it's the same one you're talking about, but I post there, so does sumi, le nub, ita, and probably some other Buffistas I'm forgetting.

Same one. Then you guys would be the ones to ask: does it seem like a community akin to ours? Back when we were on WX, it seemed useful but fragmented.

Well, there's not as much of a social aspect to it, though it's not completely without social bonds. I would say it's even less of a mediafannish space than b.org is (though that will probably complicate the issue more). Le Nubian is actually the moderator, now that I think about it. Anyone who wants to can create a thread for a show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

that very strongly comes across as "You Are Not Welcome Here," in much the same way that the "Will the SPN People Please Leave the Lobby" sentiment in Boxed Set is clearly making some other people around here feel right now.

How does it come across that way? I think it's correct, so that may be why I don't understand why the idea that our community can't support something that another can is much more than telling the truth.

Would people not be welcome here because they post there (I've been posting there since its inception)? Would people who want multiple single show threads not be welcome here if we don't end up going that way? I don't see why not.

I'm curious. What is the mark of a successful Boxed Set in terms of content and usage? Is having markedly popular shows in it a bad thing?

eta:

Le Nubian is actually the moderator

And I'm her backup.

I don't really get this. I don't mean to put words in people's mouths, but this reads like people who want separate threads for some shows should go elsewhere? Is that what's being advocated?

Not everyone is over at the other board, and not everyone wants to try to make headway on a whole 'nother board. I have a hard enough time getting responses here.

I might be putting words in her mouth, but why does the query read so much like a judgment? The language seems pretty neutral to me.
