Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Maybe we should go back in time and not combine the Due South, Farscape, and Smallville threads.

No?

Though, really, I love the thread when I'm watching pretty much everything discussed in it, and SPN is pretty much the first time in a long time I haven't been on the "next big thing" train.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Even then, I thought we were creating an sff thread. Sure, it was largely media fannish but it was years before I wrapped my head around mediafandom being considered a required or even preferred characteristic of a show within it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I &heart Daisy Jane. Bunches.

And yes, Nutty should write the definitive media fandom opus. It's really difficult to navigate that line of what I feel and what other people want to know. I can't take the mushy out of it and wind up being bad and sloppy at explaining.

In conclusion, thank heaven for Nutty and Daisy.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I've been looking at the original conversation

Okay, I feel that I should FORMALLY APOLOGIZE. It was just a suggestion! I was trying to be helpful and suggest ways to keep the servers from exploding! I did not foresee the current conversation!

Also, for what it's worth, I am media fannish and would not join an SPN thread.

I forget. How long is discussion supposed to run before the subject is tabled or goes to a vote?

My vote would be for what the majority of the actual SPN watchers and posters want. Unfortunately, I can't figure out exactly what that is from reading the discussion.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Personally, I'm agin' a dedicated thread.

I feel bad that other people are feeling crowded, yes, but I've been anti-thread-proliferation since the Phoenix flew. I didn't comment during the experimental TV discussion, because I didn't have a dog in that fight other than "no splitty!" Which, while pithy, isn't exactly a coherent argument.

Here, I feel forced out and unwelcome, and that is joining with my anti-proliferationista position to overwhelm the guilt that I feel knowing that people are annoyed with the SPN fen. So, I don't want it.

However, I'm highly for letting this go to vote, so we can take action (or not, as the case may be) and move on.

And because I can't seem to shut the hell up:

I'm not trying to say "I want my thread dammit and everyone else can shut up" - seriously, I'm not (I just get vocal when hurt, and this has stung). I want Boxed Set to be liveable for everyone - I would really like it if we could come with a compromise of some sort. It seems like compromise has been lost as a general tool (not just for this discussion).

I am intrigued by the idea of a dedicated W&P thread and would like to explore that further - that might have the effect of containing the visceral flail and then when the W&P is over, we could port deeper discussion back over to Boxed Set. (And I realize that's against my anti-proliferation stance, but it would be a compromise I could live with.)

I'd agree, and you are as me on this. I think that a W&P thread would make sense, beyond even the SPN stuff.

I mean, it could be used for group movie viewings even!

I can't wait until the first scheduling kerfuffle for use of the W&P thread.
