Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Aw, hell. Now I feel guilty.

Scrolling past reality no eaiser than scrolling through Natter? Really?

Scrolling past reality in one thread no easier than scrolling past it in another.

If most people want reality and non-fiction in one thread, then I'm okay with that. I'm not really up in arms about anything.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Scrolling past reality in one thread no easier than scrolling past it in another.

I find it easy to scroll past reality no matter where I am.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Okay, I think I may have misread your point.

I took you to be saying that scrolling through the reality in the Non-fiction thread to find the shows you want was no easier than scrolling through all of Natter to find the same stuff. That's what I was questioning.

The ease of avoiding reality shows if they're not your bag is another matter.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Well, I think that if, after the nonfic thread runs for a little while, people who want to discuss the more documentary-type shows would like their own thread separate from the reality-type shows, we will be able to accommodate that, or at least a proposal to that effect. I think it's important to leave room for growth and change in these new threads we are in the process of creating, because our tastes might change and new shows might come along and we might want something different, or broader. So if we keep nonfic as-was right now, later, if need arises, we can always propose and vote on a docu-thread.

Good point, SA.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh, I really DON'T think that starting ANOTHER thread is the answer! No offense to those who like keeping up with 7-10 threads on any given posting board, but that's not my style.

For me the basic divide between most reality shows and other non-fic series is the game show format, but not all reality shows follow that formula (Queer Eye and Blow Out come to mind), and frankly many non-fic series use a formulaic structure as well.

But yeah, if there were a non-fic thread, I'd be all about Mythbusters & Deadliest Catch & Dirty Jobs & Medical Detectives & Forensic Files & whatnot. Egad, I watch a lot of that crap.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I watch a lot of tv and I'm not all that particular (though I don't watch comedies a whole lot). I am interested in talking about nonfic shows together in the reality show thread, but no one watches "Bought & Sold" around here. :-)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I feel like most of the discussion about competition shows happened really right around the airing, and some the next day. That leaves a ton of time to talk about the other nonfiction shows without "bumping into" TAR talk (or whatever). At least, I'd think so.

I agree Jesse, I really don't think it'd be a problem.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I also agree with Jesse.

The "reality" shows didn't get in my way, and in the case of "Shear Genius", actually got me to start watching it.
