I think voting on all the threads at once is a better idea - it's really voting for or against the experiment. As to whitefont, I have no idea if all at once or separately is better, but my inclination would be to leave that separate.
The needs are kind of different, for one thing. I suspect drama is the place where it's really going to matter to people. Comedy - I don't know that I see a need at all. Reality-wise, the only thing I think would need whitefont at all would be who's off, for shows that operate like that.
How we structure that into a vote, I again have no idea.

I think it would give us better information -- asking people to vote on individual threads will tell us how many people are initially interested in each broad topic. I also think it will have a better chance of passing.
Thanks. Okay, I'm thinking about it. I'm hesitant, I guess, because to me, the whole point is to see what people will do, if they have new spaces to talk TV. I have never seen the point as establishing these threads for the long-term, or as piloting them for their own sake. That's why I didn't want to divide them any further (like into genre categories), and it's also why I don't want to dump any. They're pretty broad categories. Some may sink and some may swim in the experiment, and that's a good thing.
My personal opinion is that (for example) the non-fictional thread will end up showing us we don't have enough demand for either bucket or dedicated threads for shows of this type. But I am tired of us all working on hypothetical opinions. I'd love for us to just see what happens. I'm happy to see any of these threads fail or thrive. I just want to see what happens.
Would the categories as they now are keep any of you from voting for the proposal, even though you might not like all the categories?
Why vote on the whitefont for each thread? Is there a significant problem with having a single unified policy for the experimental threads?
Also, I agree that network and cable is an artificial distinction, and I don't think there's going to be a problem with the number of shows discussed. Some shows will rise to the top, some won't.
bon bon, I very much agree with the reasoning Liese and Jess gave to these questions. Also, where the white font is concerned, I just didn't really get much feedback on white font from people, past yay or nay. I don't know what would make the most sense, so I'm hoping this will tell us.
Oh, and count me as in favor of having a "don't care" option for the whitefont question, if not for all of them. (Because I don't care. Um, obviously.)

Ok, this is fine. If there's no need for different wf policies, voting will show that. As for the two drama threads, I guess the experiment will show whether their traffic is individually strong.
I did mean to thank Cindy for moving the process along since I don't think more discussion is going to turn over any new leaves.
Is there any way to simplify the proposal? I find the convolutions are pushing me just beyond my bandwidth.
