ita, see Plei:
That's not a cite. That's subjective. I'm looking for more concrete.
Wanting a Heroes thread because it
feels
like Heroes dominates the thread is different from wanting one because it actually does.
As I said--a lazy count indicates Eureka generates similar if not more traffic. Did the Eureka traffic have a less overwhelming feel, or is it just longer ago?
Well, Heroes is likely (well, ALREADY) has a longer season than Eureka did -- that may be part of it.
Dominating in a total post count vs. dominating in a post/episode count is also a different thing, and nothing *I* see as a reason for splitting off.
Sorry ita, I really don't understand what you're looking for.
her fine print at the bottom implies she wouldn't be sorry to see it out of Boxed Set.
Eh, no. Overall volume is way too much any more for me to follow a conversation there (especially given my limited time), but it's not the show that's unwelcome.
Sorry, amych. I was taking that from this:
plus, then those crazy kids can take their freaky heroes and spns and whatever those crazy kids are watching these days off somewheres and stop putting their chocolate in my (natural) peanut butter
I really don't understand what you're looking for
Someone who went and counted and has numbers that support the "Heroes overwhelms" position. If it is indeed a per episode or per week thing--see above for other interpretations of overwhelm.
I get what you were taking it from, I just want to make sure that what was meant as a riff on (a) the natural peanut butter debate earlier in the day and (b) the trope of the the kids needing to get offa someone's lawn isn't taken as a vote. I solemnly swear not to smallfont in serious places ever again.
Somewhere there after Kristin, Maria (and someone before them) talked about having to skip around in BS, to avoid being spoiled for Heroes, which she can't watch now, but will watch eventually.
Actually, I can't go into BS at all. Even if I try to avoid looking at the Heroes discussion I am inevitably spolied, so I stay away completely. The fact that I don't have time to keep up with everything as it is released is why I will probably never be able to be part of the Boxed Set crowd, which bums me out but is what it is.
Dominating in a total post count vs. dominating in a post/episode count is also a different thing, and nothing *I* see as a reason for splitting off.
Though I appreciate empirical evidence over guessing trends, I don't know if that's a necessary standard for this argument.
The
desire
for a Heroes thread, or even the impression that it swamps discussion, or the real anecdote from La Pixie that she cannot enter Box Set are all persuasive to me.
Though I'm still convinced that grouping shows does a better job of maintaining thread vitality than single thread shows.

I am too, but I'm not sure any of the proposed regroupings will enhance our current experience. I'm glad Theo is leaning back toward her original proposal. It's straight forward -- do enough of us want a Heroes thread enough to vote for it -- yes or no answers are all that's required, and no re-inventing of the wheel.
Vonnie and I would make eyes at each other*
What? Aren't we already? You mean I misinterpreted all those meaningful glances when we were in the romantic Tuscany together? Woe!
this may be because my definition of fannish has always been more like KateP's meta-heavy researchy obsessiveness than Nutty and Vonnie's squee-based definition, and I'm feeling a little defensive about how I can too identify that way even if I'm not into the pretty adolescent boys.
Oh, I'm sorry about that. Mostly, I was referring to "mediafannishness" in the historic context that I cobbled haphazardly from various sources. I don't even know if it's an accurate definition. To be frank, I find myself wanting to move away from mostly squee-based fannish interactions nowadays as I get older and more crochety.
Now, away from meta and back to the specifics: I like where Heroes is just fine -- I think we have reasonably lively discussion, and while the number of posts has gone up, I don't find it too overwhelming (but this may be perceived differently by people who don't watch the show.) I think the show has *potential* to grow into one of the main Buffistas shows though, if they maintain the current level of quality. Better reason, IMO, to have it separate is if there is a critical number of people outside BS thread who wants to discuss the show but can't go into the thread for fear of spoilage for other shows.
I'm not in favour of major structural reorganization though. If we divide it up into Sci-Fi channel vs. no Sci-Fi channel threads, then it means Due South and Smallville would have to go somewhere else than BS, and that feels... weird, since those were grandfathered in from the start. I like the simple notion of vote: 1) yay, new Heroes thread, vs. 2) no, keep it where it is.
