Natter so overwhelmed me in volume now that i have a job, I unsubscribed and visit only on occasion.
It seems to me that a thread that can take some of the pressure off of Natter and Bitches would be a good thing.
t shrug.

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Is there seriously any chance of a new thread having this effect, though? Historically, new threads have always meant more volume. If splitting off Movies and Music didn't slow down Natter, I really doubt Veronica can do it.
Jessica's right. Posting expands to fill the space allotted.
Here's the text I plan to use in the ballot. Comments?
Proposed: Should we add a Veronica Mars thread?
Jim writes: I propose that we have a VM thread. Purely selfishly, I can't keep up with Natter these days, and I want to discuss VM in the kind of depth you only get round here.
YES
NO
NO PREFERENCE
Jon, it looks simple and direct and good to me. Oh, and my profile address is good for counting.

Actually, I would be very curious to see statistics about the flow of Natter before/after those threads were created. Oh, and we then can analyze it based on the number of active posters, or the average total posting flow, or - OK, I'll shut up now. No, first I'll tell myself that ita and the other techies who are doing such a wonderful job already have their hands full (both real hands and, um, screen ones) so they don't need any math requests, and that I have enough numbers to play with at work and I don't need to ask people for more. And now I'll shut up.
Both. I do think the board needs live show threads to sustain the feel, and I think VM is a really logical choice; it's the first show since Buffy - including Angel & Firefly - to feel even remotely like it. And no, my comment on preserving the original TT idea of the community was a generalism, not a comment to you.
Hear Ye Hear Ye
Voting is now open for the following proposal:

Discussion for this proposal starts here.
Voting closes Thursday, August 25, at 6 AM (PST).
(questions should be posted in Bureaucracy)
And I am now closing this thread.

From le nubian:
Here's my proposal that I think needs discussion:
I would like to become a bit more involved in some of the TV discussions here, but I can't get to Natter in time for anything I have to say to mean anything. I know there are/have been discussions about thread proliferation and when individual shows need threads. I am interested in further discussion that may help address various peoples' needs/wants.
Embedded in this are two options as I see them: 1) A Fall TV thread which would cover new series that debut September, October, or November; or 2) a New Series Thread that could encapsulate all the new series airing from September 1, 2005-August 31, 2006.
The second option could capture discussion of "Prison Break", "Reunion", mid-season replacement series, and summer series.
I know a thread for Option 1 may be short-lived, however, knowing y'all buffistas, we might be on thread #4 by the time Christmas comes.
So essentially the two options proposed differ in terms of what folks may most desire: long-running threads (option 2) or more concentrated discussion (option 1). Neither thread, in my view, would cover continuing series.
So, basically what's being proposed is another Boxed Set.
I find that trying to keep up in Boxed Set with the shows I like while ignoring the shows I don't to be too much of a hassle. I guess my vote would be no at this point.
Other people don't seem to mind Boxed Set that much, though.
I'm weeks behind in Boxed Set because I've only seen up to ep 3 of BSG so far.
That whitefont question is key, I think.
