In an environment without sound, a lot of the way we judge tone of a post is by the personality of the poster. Words posted by an oldtimer we know may be taken one way, and verbatim words posted by a newbie may be taken completely differently. It really is all relative.
Nicely stated, Wolfram. I agree with this.
I also dislike sockpuppets and would love for them to go away.
Have we EVER opened Lightbulbs without ultimately voting?
Once, I think. Pulled for lack of real interest.
Have we EVER opened Lightbulbs without ultimately voting?
I think so, but I can't remember on what.
Have we EVER opened Lightbulbs without ultimately voting?
Yes, once. I think.
We don't have to vote, you know.
Ah, I'm just posting to hear the sound of my own keyboard at this point....
Also, it should be noted that my comment about too much input even holds true for me. Sometimes even I don't have anything helpful to add to a discussion.
Yes, you may all drop your mouths open in shock now.
Clovis, Ferrets, Zombies, and God have been here as long as I have.
ND, God showed up after you did. Clovis showed up after that. Zombie Robots
way
after that.
Not that I think them having been around longer than you makes a difference to how I feel about them. Just that your facts are off.
Was there any sock-puppetry prior to the Phoenix?

Okay. It's felt like they've been here as long as I have. I didn't check numbers on them. They've been kicking around at least a year if not longer, correct?

Yip. I made a proposal and withdrew it; I think it was starting a general TV thread, although I could be misremembering.

Would it help to hear that they bugged me from however long they've been here? Just because people don't always voice their objections from the get-go doesn't mean that everything is peachy.
I have to scoot off to an appointment; I'm not stomping off in a huff, I'm tiptoeing away. Carry on.
