Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Well, say we had a yes or no option for new threads. So, you'd get a count there. If "no new threads" wins, well, there you go. Don't even really need to look at the results of the next section of the poll, which is "pick your top three, if we do, indeed, decided to have threads."
So, in that case, amych gets to vote "no" but also voice her preference about which shows will get threads if her "no" vote is not the majority (or whatever) opinion. So, you still get input on creation even if creation isn't what you would prefer.

That way, even the people who don't want a thread, still get to vote "zero", but get to enter a preference, in case "1" or "2" wins out.

ETA: Whose idea is even more refined what with the number of threads you'd prefer option. Very fancy.
I always TiVo That Other One, myself.
I dunno, Cindy. I don't think it makes sense to put it all on one ballot. Or maybe I just think that it wouldn't hurt to do a non-binding poll to see how much interest there is in creating several new show threads before we, in essence, commit to creating new show threads. I mean, how many days of discussion is there supposed to be prior to any given vote? Four days, right? Why not do a two- or three-day poll during that time?
The question about creating new threads doesn't have to be binding, does it?
I'm not sure what you mean, JenP. Votes are binding, polls are not.
Burrell, I know, because what you're suggesting is what I thought we were doing.
Lyra, it reads like you just want to get it over with (v. understandable). What do you think of Burrell's suggestion? It doesn't sound like it would lengthen it, any.

Who doesn't, Robin? It's must see TV.
How would spoilers be handled in these proposed TV threads?
I thought we were discussing wording the poll and including a general question about whether or not to create new threads at all. Where Allyson mentioned "inlcude a no new threads option" I took to mean in the poll. Then in response to amych's question, my response was in regard to creating a poll with the no new threads option, but also being able to voice show choices for the possibility that "yes" was the more popular answer to the thread question.
If "no new threads" is the polled preference, well, the show results are sort of moot.
ETA: If I said voting, I meant voting in the poll, so non-binding.
