Jesse I thought you did not feel strongly on the issue? We won't discuss it further, but I ask that you block consensus only on the substance, not on the "how other people will react". In other words at least one person should block the consenus, because they strongly oppose it on their own behalf.
Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
I suggest that we have two ballots ready for tonight's vote at midnight. One will include the PV option with a second preference rank, the other will just have 3/4/6 and no preference. If we fail to get a consensus on using PV for this vote we'll use the other option, and there's still a good chance that the OTP will shine through and the PV/runoff issue will be moot for this ballot.
Even though I really have no opinion, just posting to say that I'm fine with trying the preferential ballot this time. I'm also fine with doing a regular runoff this time. Whichever way people feel more strongly about, I'm willing to try it.
Reposted from Kafka:
The PV people are like Sam I Am. "Try it, try it. You will see." It's so cute. I'm all for trying PV and seeing if it flies. If it's really crazy making, we don't have to do it again. And honestly, I don't think it's going to come up too often. Most votes will probably be yes/no type things.
This is really only an issue if there are 3 or more choices on a ballot and there is no clear cut winner.
Personally, I don't care which way we finally decide to vote--Preferentail or run off, as long as we come to a decision that most people can live with.
Which there are, this time.
Yeah, fine, whatever.
Yes, I realize they are there this time.
Again, I'm thinking out loud more than anything else, sorry I should put a disclaimer. Actually I shouldn't even be let near a computer right now, I'm not thinking straight.
I'm not trying to be pushy, frankly I don't care how we end up chosing to vote. I know how I'm planning to vote. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of 4 months being added to the ballot for exacty this reason, but the majority seemed to want it, so there's 4 months.
I'm happy to try PV on this one, partly because of my conviction that it's more complicated in theory than it is in practice. We've got very simple ballot questions here, too, rather than three or more options without a lot of overlap, as could happen in the future. Jon's ballot write-up looks fine to me.
Hello all! I have missed you so very much.
Here’s the thing, I have been getting sunburnt in the keys for 6 whole days and now I see 799 messages in Beauracracy and 390 in this new shiny thread. I’m not going to read them.
I would be ever so grateful if someone would summarize what the heck is going on. Via profile address is fine, or here as I will try and keep up with new stuff.
I have decided that I would rather threadsuck and skim some other threads. I have the following to consider:
Bitches – 2044 new Natter - 3248 new Buffy – 322 new
Yikes! Even Spoilage lite has 49 new.
btw - love the thread title
