Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Thrive to spite them

This is really only an issue if there are 3 or more choices on a ballot and there is no clear cut winner.

Personally, I don't care which way we finally decide to vote--Preferentail or run off, as long as we come to a decision that most people can live with.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Which there are, this time.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, fine, whatever.

Yes, I realize they are there this time.

Again, I'm thinking out loud more than anything else, sorry I should put a disclaimer. Actually I shouldn't even be let near a computer right now, I'm not thinking straight.

I'm not trying to be pushy, frankly I don't care how we end up chosing to vote. I know how I'm planning to vote. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of 4 months being added to the ballot for exacty this reason, but the majority seemed to want it, so there's 4 months.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm happy to try PV on this one, partly because of my conviction that it's more complicated in theory than it is in practice. We've got very simple ballot questions here, too, rather than three or more options without a lot of overlap, as could happen in the future. Jon's ballot write-up looks fine to me.

Our wings are not tired.

Hello all! I have missed you so very much.

Here’s the thing, I have been getting sunburnt in the keys for 6 whole days and now I see 799 messages in Beauracracy and 390 in this new shiny thread. I’m not going to read them.

I would be ever so grateful if someone would summarize what the heck is going on. Via profile address is fine, or here as I will try and keep up with new stuff.

I have decided that I would rather threadsuck and skim some other threads. I have the following to consider:

Bitches – 2044 new Natter - 3248 new Buffy – 322 new

Yikes! Even Spoilage lite has 49 new.

btw - love the thread title

Congratulations to all on the debate. At no time did anyone resort to hurling the epithet 'sixist'. Very civilized.

Gus, you tempter. Shame. Now I must. And it's all on your head!

SIXIST

There, I feel much better now.

FWIW, I don't give a patootie about how we decide this ballot, mostly because I think it's a forgone (foregone?) conclusion that we'll end up with six, which is a horrible number and will cause us all to bleed from the eyeballs. Don't post that I didn't warn you, because I won't be able to see, what with the aforementioned bleeding from the eyeballs.

Laura, we're about to vote on how long of a moratorium on discussion there should be following a vote. Right now it looks like 6, 4, and 3 months will be the choices, but we're still stuck on PV or sequential run-offs if necessary.

Next up will be a vote on whether the moratorium applies automatically to any decisions made before we instituted voting.

Voting on the first one is slated to start at midnight tonight.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But Cindy, we'll be able to revisit it in six months, if you want to.
