We used to wait for the West Coasters. Incidentally.

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
But the thing is, if I'm watching show Foo and taping show Bar that may mean that I'm missing the entire thread for a day, while discussions of Baz and Frumble are going merrily on.
What solution am I proposing? Mmm... arrrgh. I'm not sure I see one. But it's not like with single-show threads, where I could avoid Buffy for a day if I was on tape delay, while continue reading Angel which I watched live.
I understand that may just be me.
If not just you, I do think it's a minority -- I don't recall seeing any other West Coasters doing it.
My current feeling on a TV thread is that it's not practically useful for enough people to offset the chance of increased board traffic.
Since I am the evil anti-ita, living on the east coast and owning a TiVo, I hesitate to chime in here. I tend to skip watch-and-post, but I like to know what went on in the show before I go into work the next day. I also sometimes just read the recaps here and avoid watching the show.
Maybe the Buffistas could lobby the networks to broadcast everything at the same time for both coasts, like they do football games. Heck, I'm getting used to staying up until 1:30 am to watch the As and/or Mariners play.
(Only half joking about this...the world, she is a-changing, and the coasts aren't as far apart as they were).
Since I am the evil anti-ita, living on the east coast and owning a TiVo
If you own a TiVo, you can't be anti-me. You should give it away.
the coasts aren't as far apart as they were
Shit. Is continental drift happening again?
Or, wait. It would be continental smush, wouldn't it?
My current feeling on a TV thread is that it's not practically useful for enough people to offset the chance of increased board traffic.
Hmm... If it's an unspecialized TV thread, do you think we run the risk of a lot of increased traffic?
What solution am I proposing? Mmm... arrrgh. I'm not sure I see one.
This is the main drawback of a general TV thread, essentially the same flaws ita points out. I still think the only viable solution, should we vote to create a general TV thread is Caveat Postor.
do you think we run the risk of a lot of increased traffic?
Yes. Even if it's impractical for many, because, given room there will be more traffic.
Natter abhors a vacuum.

How are you defining "viable"? Observable? Useful to most? Unannoying to most?
I'd like to define viable as a combo of the three, but can't see a way to achieve it.
If we don't create a general TV thread, where do we discuss non-Joss shows? Or is that outside the board's purview?
If we do, are we risking becoming Table Talk without the income?
Can I be the not-so-evil anti-ita and keep my TiVo?
So many questions...
I think I want a separate Buffy Alumni thread. If we had that, I'd be happy to leave other TV in natter, whitefonted as at present.
