'The Killer In Me'

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

My current feeling on a TV thread is that it's not practically useful for enough people to offset the chance of increased board traffic.

Hmm... If it's an unspecialized TV thread, do you think we run the risk of a lot of increased traffic?

What solution am I proposing? Mmm... arrrgh. I'm not sure I see one.

This is the main drawback of a general TV thread, essentially the same flaws ita points out. I still think the only viable solution, should we vote to create a general TV thread is Caveat Postor.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

do you think we run the risk of a lot of increased traffic?

Yes. Even if it's impractical for many, because, given room there will be more traffic.

Natter abhors a vacuum.

still think the only viable solution, should we vote to create a general TV thread is Caveat Postor.

How are you defining "viable"? Observable? Useful to most? Unannoying to most?

I'd like to define viable as a combo of the three, but can't see a way to achieve it.

move out and draw fire

If we don't create a general TV thread, where do we discuss non-Joss shows? Or is that outside the board's purview?

If we do, are we risking becoming Table Talk without the income?

Can I be the not-so-evil anti-ita and keep my TiVo?

So many questions...

If I only had a brain...

I think I want a separate Buffy Alumni thread. If we had that, I'd be happy to leave other TV in natter, whitefonted as at present.

It's just getting too unwieldy though. Other threads are becoming de facto general TV threads. There's pressure to create one even if we don't.

I'd rather have a Gen TV thread and make it an enter at your own risk zone.

Betsy is me. I'm also confused how a General TV thread would work because each time I've encountered general issue threads it seems to be a discussion by mentioning, especially with TV.

Also, I kinda wish I had gotten to the board before Raquel got her seconds because I would have liked to have had a chance to figure out what we are consolidating and cleaning up before we open something new.

I think there's been a general feeling that we'll consolidate the Buffy threads as fall rolled around and there was no new Buffy. The vibe seems to be that we'll do the deathmatch in Quotable, then close that. And we probably don't need Buffy and Previously - though Previously will still be useful for Angel.

The bigger issues, I suppose, are not closing threads which have low volume, but dealing with the increased volume of a new thread.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

I'm generally against thread proliferation for the same reasons ita brings up.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't find white font as problematic as some, but I'd be happier without it.

Also, if defining "aired" as "aired on the West Coast" will kill the watch-n-post forever, then I'm all for it. There is nothing more boring than having to slog through 100 posts of "OMG DID YOU JUST SEE THAT?!?!?!" and "Ha! I knew it!" when one is trying to discuss the ep in question.

Also, I am a bit tipsy, and it has taken me rather a long time to type this, so anything I contribute to this thread tonight should be taken in that context.

Not javachik

I'll join the anti-thread proliferation gang, if there is one. I voted FOR a movies thread, but rarely have time to read One More Thread, and enjoy movie & tv discussions when they crop up in Natter. It might be nice to ask people to reference a standard acronym for a TV show that's being discussed, so that one can threadsuck/search for info a particular show. This might already be standard practice (e.g., TAR, OC, etc.) - I know I appreciate that kat perez always references TAR in her first, if not subsequent, posts.
