Since I am the evil anti-ita, living on the east coast and owning a TiVo, I hesitate to chime in here. I tend to skip watch-and-post, but I like to know what went on in the show before I go into work the next day. I also sometimes just read the recaps here and avoid watching the show.

Maybe the Buffistas could lobby the networks to broadcast everything at the same time for both coasts, like they do football games. Heck, I'm getting used to staying up until 1:30 am to watch the As and/or Mariners play.

(Only half joking about this...the world, she is a-changing, and the coasts aren't as far apart as they were).

My current feeling on a TV thread is that it's not practically useful for enough people to offset the chance of increased board traffic.

This is the main drawback of a general TV thread, essentially the same flaws ita points out. I still think the only viable solution, should we vote to create a general TV thread is Caveat Postor.

Yes. Even if it's impractical for many, because, given room there will be more traffic.

How are you defining "viable"? Observable? Useful to most? Unannoying to most?

I'd like to define viable as a combo of the three, but can't see a way to achieve it.

If we don't create a general TV thread, where do we discuss non-Joss shows? Or is that outside the board's purview?

If we do, are we risking becoming Table Talk without the income?

It's just getting too unwieldy though. Other threads are becoming de facto general TV threads. There's pressure to create one even if we don't.

I'd rather have a Gen TV thread and make it an enter at your own risk zone.

Betsy is me. I'm also confused how a General TV thread would work because each time I've encountered general issue threads it seems to be a discussion by mentioning, especially with TV.

Also, I kinda wish I had gotten to the board before Raquel got her seconds because I would have liked to have had a chance to figure out what we are consolidating and cleaning up before we open something new.

I think there's been a general feeling that we'll consolidate the Buffy threads as fall rolled around and there was no new Buffy. The vibe seems to be that we'll do the deathmatch in Quotable, then close that. And we probably don't need Buffy and Previously - though Previously will still be useful for Angel.

The bigger issues, I suppose, are not closing threads which have low volume, but dealing with the increased volume of a new thread.
