I happen to be very biteable, pal. I'm moist and delicious.

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

If I only had a brain...

The problem is, in a general TV thread, there's no natural boundary at which it's safe to come back. For instance, on Tuesday night, you might be perfectly willing to read about Queer Eye at 11 PM because you don't watch it, but really frustrated about being spoiled for MI-5. And they both air at the same time.

In the Buffy/Angel threads, you knew you could come in after seeing the show, and everything you'd miss would be about just Buffy. In a general TV thread, you never know what people are talking about.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

What seems more inconvenient for people? East Coasters not being able to discuss a show for three hours afterward, or West Coasters having to avoid a thread for three hours before.

That means the only people who could ever watch and post would be West Coasters.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That means the only people who could ever watch and post would be West Coasters.

And if not, the only people who could ever watch and post would be East Coasters.

This is why I am for an "Enter At Your Own Risk" designation. I don't think it will work any other way.

Well, we've always deferred to East Coast, I assumed because of bedtime and whatnot. Because if East Coast watch and posts, West Coast misses 3 hours of the thread but then can go back in. But if West Coast watch and posts, East Coast can't to anything until (1) after their bedtime or (2) the next day.

And I'm largely in favor of inconveniencing the fewest people.

Also, if we change the watch and post rule, we're going to have to change it for S5 of Angel, not just the TV thread if it passes. (That's not a threat or naysaying; just a reminder to do it if it happens.)

How so? West Coasters would just WnP three hours later, and run the risk of catching East Coasters post-morteming the ep, like we've always had to in other show threads.

It only ever spoiled me once, but in general I was okay with that. But I understand that may just be me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

We used to wait for the West Coasters. Incidentally.

If I only had a brain...

But the thing is, if I'm watching show Foo and taping show Bar that may mean that I'm missing the entire thread for a day, while discussions of Baz and Frumble are going merrily on.

What solution am I proposing? Mmm... arrrgh. I'm not sure I see one. But it's not like with single-show threads, where I could avoid Buffy for a day if I was on tape delay, while continue reading Angel which I watched live.

If not just you, I do think it's a minority -- I don't recall seeing any other West Coasters doing it.

My current feeling on a TV thread is that it's not practically useful for enough people to offset the chance of increased board traffic.

move out and draw fire

Since I am the evil anti-ita, living on the east coast and owning a TiVo, I hesitate to chime in here. I tend to skip watch-and-post, but I like to know what went on in the show before I go into work the next day. I also sometimes just read the recaps here and avoid watching the show.

Maybe the Buffistas could lobby the networks to broadcast everything at the same time for both coasts, like they do football games. Heck, I'm getting used to staying up until 1:30 am to watch the As and/or Mariners play.

(Only half joking about this...the world, she is a-changing, and the coasts aren't as far apart as they were).
