Angel: You know, I killed my actual dad. It was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire. Wesley: I hardly see how that's the same situation. Angel: Yeah. I didn't really think that one through.

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thread's closed, proposal's final, IIRC Jess is counting votes, so I'll point votes at buffistas.org to her profile address.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Does Raquel post her proposal here first, so we know what we're talking about?

(We kind of have to refresh ourselves on the process every time, don't we?)

I think the discussion would be best served by Raquel submitting a formal proposal. I would take this opportunity to again recommend NOT using whitefont in the thread - open discussion of anything aired, peeps who haven't seen just need to deal - but that rec may just be due to my strong bias that any whitefont language will ultimately be removed after discussion anyway.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

What was posted in bureau:

Raquel "Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer" Aug 18, 2003 4:55:14 pm PDT : OK, I'll propose a general TV thread. (edit to clarify: I propose a thread for all TV shows that are not BtVS, Angel, or Firefly).

and what about NAFDA, whitefont, etc?

Raquel "Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer" Aug 18, 2003 5:09:10 pm PDT : I've been pondering. White fonting TV shows doesn't make sense to me, but I know that other folks on the board don't want to be spoiled, esp. for the reality shows. Also the NAFDA factor applies.

How about: NAFDA, anything that was in the previews for an episode is legal, white-font for one week after original air date. If the show is in syndication, no white-fonting necessary.

The requisite seconds have been seconded. We were discussing the whitefont question before we brought the discussion over here.

Raquel, did you have any comments to start us going? Is that roughly the proposal you want to discuss?

Here's my proposal...let 'er rip!

(Edited to remove comment that had been made moot by folks posting faster than I type).

PROPOSAL: I propose the creation of a new thread. This thread will be for the discussion of TV shows, past, present, and future, with the exception of BtVS, Angel, and Firefly. These three Jossian shows can be mentioned, used as reference, etc., in the new TV thread, but the main discussion of them will be held elsewhere. White-font rules used in the home thread for Jossian series will apply to those series in the TV thread. Shows currently airing and in syndication can be discussed in this thread.

The thread will be NAFDA. No white-fonting required, except as above regarding Angel, BtVS, and Firefly. END PROPOSAL

Please note I cheated and changed my proposal from white-font for a week. As I said, white-fonting a TV show makes no sense to me. I was looking out for the TAR folks, but I guess they can argue it for themselves as they choose.

I'm also assuming that only Angel would have white-font rules, as there ain't no more Buffy or Firefly, and this proposed thread is NAFDA. Please correct me if I'm wrong (or give me lots and lots of pets if I'm right ^_^).

It's not cheating -- as the proposer, you get to word things. Sorry if I stepped on your toes by opening the discussion before you had your wording set.

Don't forget casting spoiler rules -- I've already been spoiled here more than once for other shows -- one should be careful about that -- allowed? Whitefonted? What?

This sounds like a thread I might have enjoyed when I was an east coaster and didn't watch with TiVo. Well, okay, there's the proliferation thing too.

That was very smooth and polished, Raquel. You'll go far in politics...

Interesting point, ita. Obviously, anything unaired is spoilery, and should be verbotten, but should summer casting rules apply?

(Generally, I'm a little curious about this, as it seems to me that genre shows like Buffy and Angel are the only ones for whom this is a big thing... I know there are occasionally exceptions, but it seems that spoilerness of cast changes is lessened to a certain extent in non-genre shows)

Thankee Sean...but as I currently have pink hair, I'm guessing I won't.

ita, my proposal as stands is no whitefont, not casting, not plot, not which ads ran during the ep. Sounds like casting spoilers are a topic for discussion....
