I'd like to see any ballot create a thread for whichever community looses out.
That way, all the kids get to play even if one group has a ghetto playground with two toys.
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

As I noted in Bureaucracy, I think that's a separate issue. First of all, we don't know the outcome of this vote. Second, thread creation puts a strain on the system, and needs to be considered separately. Third, the issue at hand will be worded by Jim, and I personally think it's better for us to nail down the spoiler issue in clear language with clear border in a manner that accomodates the most number of Buffistas. That in itself, is a difficult task (as the many posts prove) and shouldn't be further complicated by the additional step of a rider.

Then propose a thread on a separate ballot after this vote. Anyone can make a proposal.

Quite frankly, I'd rather see this voted on as a separate issue. I am not alone on this issue.
This is fucking insane.
I want to talk about the show unspoiled. This is not rash or radical. I'm so sorry that I've been grossly insensitive to the sentiment that Spoilers and Semi Spoilers aren't enough and now we need Just This One Thing Spoilers too.
If we're going to have THREE ways for people of varying degrees of spoilage to discuss we should have ONE for the people who like to -- radical though it may be-- turn on a television show and see what happens.
It's ONE LINE on the ballot and that way we don't end up with however many days unable to discuss on the board.
You know what, you can go through the thread creation process like everybody else, Trudy. Your unspoiled status does not grant you extra special privleges, but you've been acting like it should.
It won't take that much longer to propose a virgin thread and wait for it to pass like you normally would, I don't know why we have to make special provisions just for you.
Besides, it's Jim's call whether the original wording is changed, not yours, Trudy, or a matter of consensus. The discussion here is an opportunity for the original proposer to hear arguments on the proposal and language, but it is the proposer's decision on what is put forth to vote.
I still think Victor's idea is practical and will make everyone happy. One thread for spoiler-hatas, one thread for those who want to discuss the BCS but no other spoilers ,and one for the spoiler lovers. No One is left out, no one has to accept a compromise, no one has to be spoiled if they don't want to. I am guessing the second thread will get the most traffic until the fall and then it can be folded into the main thread. This way, everyone gets a place to discuss the shows--and we can stop trying to get people to change their individual spoiler preferences, which is hopeless and actually kind of disrespectful.
I am reposting this from Bureau, from Scrappy. I am still unsure why this won't work, except for it wasn't the original proposal.
This is fucking insane.
Hey, same thing you were complaining about in Spoilers, re: calling the unspoiled insane.
But I do agree that if Jim so prefers, it can be added to the proposal, "If the Casting Change is added, so is added a Virgins thread." 'Course, the anti-thread proliferation party may take issue. But where we are closing some threads during the Great Housecleaning of The Fall 2003 TeeVee Season, perhaps we'll end up even stevens.

Personally, I'm against a compromise that ghettoizes each spoiler or unspoiler group into their own thread. I'm for accomodating the middle as much as possible and using the vote to find out what the middle is.
It'll dilute the discussion quite a bit and confuse the boards and create new threads to slice everything so fine. That's my issue.
Also, while that may be the compromise that may best resolve all issues, it is not the proposal at hand.
