Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
I feel strongly that it should be a show and/or Collected Works thread, rather than a person thread. It really bothers me, the idea that we worship the person rather than the content that person produces. Crosses that line in my brain that I don't like to cross.
Also, I wonder if it mightn't be wiser to do a Mutant Enemy Alumni Projects thread, and combine all talk of Joss movies/TV, the Drews, whatever Fury ends up doing, Jane on Gilmore Girls (and Gilmore Boy, whatever that show is called), as well as Wonder Falls. That's just a throw-out idea, because I want to suggest as many alternatives as possible before the ballot gets written.
Agreed with Nutty. We have never had a thread about one specific person. I appreciate that Tim's special because he posts here -- but if he never posts here again (you know, if his beagle permanently comandeers the keyboard or something), we would still have the thread, and I'm not convinced we want to set that precedent because the thread proliferation possibilities make even me anxious.
I'd have a very strong preference for a general alumni thread. We could break out Minearvana if Tim talk clearly took over the thread, much as the Buffy thread gave birth to Spike's bitches.
I think I'm coming from a "Once Bit" by Firefly place. If the show doesnt make it, I'm sure Tim will have his sticky paws in other places. I'm sure he'll have his paws in other places, anyway, over the lifespan of the Buffistas.
I think we're agreeing here. When I say I don't want the thread to be about a person, I really just mean that I don't want the thread to be about what Tim Minear wore to dinner and what he ate for breakfast and does he feed his beagles Eukanuba or Purina. Which is all very interesting, but a bit stalkerish. I would like an "All Tim WORKS thread all the time"...
I'm for a The Collected Works of One Master Tim Minear thread, myself.
I feel that work can be defined as loosely as "feeding beagles" and "killing characters".
We could break out Minearvana if Tim talk clearly took over the thread
I think we already have a culture of Minearvana.
Your Beagle May Vary and My-neer is in the FAQ.
I support Works of Tim Minear thread.
Do not want it mixed with the other ME alumns. I agree that it would be way too confusing.

Right. But I see no reason to believe we talk about him so much, and so much more than the other ME staff, that we need a seperate Tim thread. Start an alumni thread; break out Tim talk if it takes over.
Besides, if we start a Tim only thread, we'll have to do the alumni thread vote separately. Which just seems like a pain in the ass.
Q: How will Minear feel, coming onboard to chat a bit and finding himself threadified? Will he run screaming from the stalkery people? Will he be flattered beyond the ability to type? Or will he go, "Oh, kewel!" and dive in to talk?
I support Works of Tim Minear thread.
Like I've said before, as long as Tim gets his props, I'm cool either way.

No, I'd be OK with ANOTHER thread for ME alums, but Tim gets special treatment in my book.
Setting aside the fact that he posts here -- which could change at any time -- why Tim? Why not Jane Espenson or David Greenwalt or David Fury or Ultimate Drew or even Joss Whedon? Or for that matter, why not Eliza Dushku or Seth Green?
I think I'm hampered by never remembering who wrote what -- I know Home, because he posted after that, but I couldn't name three other Minear episodes with a gun to my head.
For people supposedly concerned with thread proliferation, we don't seem all that concerned.
t shrug
Let me know when it comes to a vote.
