You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

I support Works of Tim Minear thread.

Like I've said before, as long as Tim gets his props, I'm cool either way.

Do not want it mixed with the other ME alumns. I agree that it would be way too confusing.

No, I'd be OK with ANOTHER thread for ME alums, but Tim gets special treatment in my book.

Up with the sun

Setting aside the fact that he posts here -- which could change at any time -- why Tim? Why not Jane Espenson or David Greenwalt or David Fury or Ultimate Drew or even Joss Whedon? Or for that matter, why not Eliza Dushku or Seth Green?

I think I'm hampered by never remembering who wrote what -- I know Home, because he posted after that, but I couldn't name three other Minear episodes with a gun to my head.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

For people supposedly concerned with thread proliferation, we don't seem all that concerned.

t shrug Let me know when it comes to a vote.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

coming from a "Once Bit" by Firefly place. If the show doesnt make it, I'm sure Tim will have his sticky paws in other places.

It's certainly true that the Firefly threads are going to need to be retired -- eventually, after the Brits have their say, and I guess after the DVDs -- and that during the past few months the Firefly threads have been the not-Firefly threads. In fact, they became de facto M.E. Alumni Shows threads, what with weekly discussion of Miracles. (After about 5,000 posts about the relationship of the western film to science fiction. Okay, that at least was tangentially topical.)

And Firefly is also an example of why I prefer to start with a generalist thread, and narrow down to a Work Of Person X thread only when necessary. I fear that threads that go fallow, for whatever reason and for however long, have the opportunity to turn into another Natter, a Natter that doesn't have a strong relationship with the real Natter Thread, or other threads. I tend to think that fewer, more generalist threads will tend to promote everyone being all up in each other's business, rather than isolated each in his/her own subtopic specialty.

Also, suddenly I realized: if we talk only about Tim shows on this new thread, are we allowed to talk about, say, the seasons of XF he wasn't writing? I suspect it will turn, slowly, into a general TV thread, or a Sci Fi TV thread, and if that's the direction we're heading, I prefer to plan that in advance.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Setting aside the fact that he posts here

See, for me, the whole point is that he posts here. Not just as a freak thing, but for years now. In a way that none of the other writers are, he's one of us, and that makes him deserve treatment that's different from the other alums.

information libertarian

I am with Lyra Jane on the Tim thread, for all her various reasons. Also, if a Tim thread were created this week, would we really have much to talk about in it, until the new show comes out? How much sustained discussion of his old work on various shows is this board likely to generate? Are any in reruns? I mean, I'm all in favor of beagle haiku, but a thread wholly devoted to beagle haiku, NSM.

Caroma - May 23, 2003 9:07:44 am PDT #1491 of 10289
Hello! I must be going.

Beagle haiku would actually be a good name for the Tim and all his works thread.

Which I vote for now.

Or: Tim Minear
Should have a place
Just for him in Buffistaland. So there.

Now you know why I've never ended a thread.

Edit: OMG, no line breaks make the Baby Jesus think your haiku is even lamer than it is.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

As usual, I agree with Nutty. It feels weird to me to have a thread devoted to a person. If Wonder Falls is picked up, then have a Wonder Falls thread.

I'm also worried that even though "works of Tim Minear" is in the title, the thread will devolve into what he wore to dinner, etc.

t edited because what we wore to dinner is always an acceptable topic of conversation

Thrive to spite them

I want a Tim Thread, because he's Tim and I could get behind talking about the Angel episodes he's written and directed and whatnot.

I don't venture to Previously often because frankly I'm not big on discussing many of the past episodes (yeah, I know Buffy's over so my attitude is going to change) but--it's Tim.

He wrote Billy and Darla and i'm forgetting the names of others. But I could sustain a discussion on Billy for quite a while ( I have extensive notes about Billy).

I don't follow the other people mentioned, I'm not big on them, I don't pay attention to who writes what except for Tim and that's because of his involvement here.

And it's kinda selfish but there you have it.

candyb - May 23, 2003 9:13:57 am PDT #1494 of 10289

I'm kind of in the middle now. I'm swaying.

I think I want to have a place to talk about Tim's latest work and have a place he feels comfortable posting.

But since his new show won't happen until January and we already have threads to cover the most current work of TM, maybe we should wait.

But really don't want to mix the not-Joss-alumn topics. In fact I really just don't care about having dedicated topics to any shows that are not related to Joss or Tim.
