We could break out Minearvana if Tim talk clearly took over the thread
I think we already have a culture of Minearvana.

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

I support Works of Tim Minear thread.
Do not want it mixed with the other ME alumns. I agree that it would be way too confusing.

Right. But I see no reason to believe we talk about him so much, and so much more than the other ME staff, that we need a seperate Tim thread. Start an alumni thread; break out Tim talk if it takes over.
Besides, if we start a Tim only thread, we'll have to do the alumni thread vote separately. Which just seems like a pain in the ass.
Q: How will Minear feel, coming onboard to chat a bit and finding himself threadified? Will he run screaming from the stalkery people? Will he be flattered beyond the ability to type? Or will he go, "Oh, kewel!" and dive in to talk?
I support Works of Tim Minear thread.
Like I've said before, as long as Tim gets his props, I'm cool either way.

No, I'd be OK with ANOTHER thread for ME alums, but Tim gets special treatment in my book.
Setting aside the fact that he posts here -- which could change at any time -- why Tim? Why not Jane Espenson or David Greenwalt or David Fury or Ultimate Drew or even Joss Whedon? Or for that matter, why not Eliza Dushku or Seth Green?
I think I'm hampered by never remembering who wrote what -- I know Home, because he posted after that, but I couldn't name three other Minear episodes with a gun to my head.
For people supposedly concerned with thread proliferation, we don't seem all that concerned.
t shrug Let me know when it comes to a vote.
coming from a "Once Bit" by Firefly place. If the show doesnt make it, I'm sure Tim will have his sticky paws in other places.
It's certainly true that the Firefly threads are going to need to be retired -- eventually, after the Brits have their say, and I guess after the DVDs -- and that during the past few months the Firefly threads have been the not-Firefly threads. In fact, they became de facto M.E. Alumni Shows threads, what with weekly discussion of Miracles. (After about 5,000 posts about the relationship of the western film to science fiction. Okay, that at least was tangentially topical.)
And Firefly is also an example of why I prefer to start with a generalist thread, and narrow down to a Work Of Person X thread only when necessary. I fear that threads that go fallow, for whatever reason and for however long, have the opportunity to turn into another Natter, a Natter that doesn't have a strong relationship with the real Natter Thread, or other threads. I tend to think that fewer, more generalist threads will tend to promote everyone being all up in each other's business, rather than isolated each in his/her own subtopic specialty.
Also, suddenly I realized: if we talk only about Tim shows on this new thread, are we allowed to talk about, say, the seasons of XF he wasn't writing? I suspect it will turn, slowly, into a general TV thread, or a Sci Fi TV thread, and if that's the direction we're heading, I prefer to plan that in advance.
Setting aside the fact that he posts here
See, for me, the whole point is that he posts here. Not just as a freak thing, but for years now. In a way that none of the other writers are, he's one of us, and that makes him deserve treatment that's different from the other alums.
I am with Lyra Jane on the Tim thread, for all her various reasons. Also, if a Tim thread were created this week, would we really have much to talk about in it, until the new show comes out? How much sustained discussion of his old work on various shows is this board likely to generate? Are any in reruns? I mean, I'm all in favor of beagle haiku, but a thread wholly devoted to beagle haiku, NSM.
