Kale. Ideally sautéed or braised with olive oil and garlic salt. If I go more than a few days without I feel sluggish and gross. Broccoli or spinach can fill the same niche but sometimes now I really crave the texture of kale. Used to be a huge fan of home brewed kombucha (green tea and turbinado sugar) but had to call quits on that when the acid reflux got bad.

What's the one health-foodie thing you eat/consume that you really believe in?
I think doing 4 years of Food Grad School burned me out of believing in health-foodie things. Other than really boring ones like Everyone's Diet Could Probably Use More Fiber.
I changed my haircolor this morning and have learned, yet again, the humbling lesson of Pastels Are Really Difficult, Jess. I don't *hate* the weird pinkish shade I ended up with, but damnit, I wanted lavender.
This post brought to you by the broccoli I just made in the microwave with olive oil, salt and Spanish Paprika
I roasted broccoli the other night and I usually put garlic on it, but next time I make it, I'm going to try smoked paprika instead of garlic.

Fiber is god. [edit] I posted that before I read Jess's post. #TeamFiber
I eat yogurt every day and I have much less reflux. If I finish the cups more often, I feel like my digestion is better, but sometimes in the moment, I ate too many other things. Water with lemon makes water better, but I found out later, it's also really healthy and immune-boosting

The various mushrooms that have been found to help bolster immunity and cognition. I can tell when I've missed a few days of my supplements. Which are in the form of powder added to dark cocoa powder and undetectable when I make it into hot cocoa.
Sooooo Dad is back in the hospital because his hematocrit was low and he was literally a quart low on blood. On the plus side, he texted me as soon as he was admitted, so he's learning to communicate. On the minus side, he's been having this low on blood/bad hematocrit issue for MONTHS, and the doctors still can't figure out where the internal bleeding is happening.
I am not coping.
As you know, I am here as needed. But glad he told you!
I hope they figure out the blood thing, Atropa. That's alarming!
Re: health food - reminder that cheese protects against death from any cause.
That said, I just this morning had a steak mcmuffin and an orange juice because I have it in my head that red meat + vitamin C = iron absorption even though I know that my personal iron issues are not fixable via diet or supplements. I do believe pretty strongly in placebos, though. In general.
Dear Product Managers, today is not the day to play Fuck Around and Find Out with me. Reeeaaaallly not.
