I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

meara, I meant to say, that is such a bummer. Professionally done hair should make you feel fabulous and awesome! I bet you do look cute, though.

I am in the office and I can't gt my laptop+dock to talk to my monitor and keyboard so I am awkwardly typing on my laptop while leaning away from the stand up desk so the keyboard doesn't hit me in the face. Far from ergonomically sound. The one other person who is in the office this morning tried to help me but the simple solutions we could come up with were probably necessary but not sufficient...

Note to self, keep the talking to yourself more inside your head while in the office

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Someone tell me to work.

Our wings are not tired.

Dana! Get your butt in gear! There is work to be done!

Eh, it’s Friday Dana. Surely work is not that important? (I too am having a hard time buckling down—I have multiple things I need to be doing but they’re all big complex things that aren’t due like, today, so…)

t, definitely keep the talking inside the head. But good luck with the ergonomics

Punishingly Intricate

I clearly have no problem telling adults what to do!

So, everyone, GET YOUR VACCINES!!! The life you save may be your own (or, somebody who legit can't get a vaccine rather than just doesn't want to).

I'm sorry about your husband's worrisome health issues, Laura. So much more complicated than getting a shot. I hope a multi-pronged approach of you, other loved ones, his doctor, and his personal motivation can help him get to a better place.

I should get a shingles shot but I have no idea how to arrange that

Just ask at your pharmacy.

Did some work. Now I'm taking an oatmeal break.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

-t, you can schedule a shingles shot through Walgreens.

I have been very concerned about DH. His weight is out of control.

Ach, I wish I could cook for him and make him a pile of all protein/no carb meals. When I started my weight loss it took me about a month of mental/emotional processing just to commit to it. It helped that it was such a strict diet because there was no ambiguity about what I should or shouldn't eat, and it was also clear that I couldn't do it incrementally or bargain my way to potato chips. You're trying to get yourself into ketosis and maintain it and any fudging derails that.

Which I realize is not the best approach for everybody, but it did make me build different habits around eating. I stopped grazing. I stopped eating when I was bored. The biggest though was I didn't reward myself with food for emotional ups or downs. That's where you get lost: "I'm having a shitty day, I deserve ice cream" etc.

I was motivated to lose the weight because of my sciatica. His issues with back pain might be a motivator for him. Getting rid of pain is worth skipping potato chips.

David my problem is long term vs short term rewards. Would avoiding this potato chip and the next one help me be not in pain someday? Sure. But would it make my mouth and my dopamine receptors happy right NOW? Yes.
