Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I am relieved to be almost done.
I bet. Glad it has gone smoothly and hope that continues.
Shit, I keep forgetting to get my shingles shot. I should do that before vacation (which we are, oddly, pretty well-prepared for: plane tickets, AirBnB, rental car, cat boarding).
I have been meaning to do this since May. It is not a coincidence we have a vacation planned for the end of the month. (About time, as I've gone outside the city limits only twice in the last year and a half. And one of those times was to pick up the MG when his car broke down on the Pacheco Pass.)
The nice thing is, once you have shringrix, shots one and two, you're good for life (I was told).
Flu, though. We need to book those. And a Phizer booster, when they're available.
Great news, Pix! Fantastic!
Safe travels to Brendan.
Sumi - you are ending just as my mom is about to start.
I did major medical adulting today and got three shots: flu, tetanus, and shingles #1. Typing now since I suspect my arms may fall off at any moment.
Oh yeah, I need to get that Shingles. I've heard too many horror stories.
Y’all. I wanted pink hair. And I thought “what the hell, it’s a pandemic, YOLO….but maybe I should pay a professional for once, so it actually looks good and not like my shitty home job”. I spent over 4 hours and almost $400 today to get….a shitty uneven dye job I could’ve done myself. Wtf. I’m going back on Tuesday for him to re-do the pink, but I’m super not thrilled. Like, it’s not THAT bad….except in the whole “I paid a professional so it wouldn’t look like this” part. I might as well have spent $15 on supplies and done it myself. Ugh. Guess I’ve learned that lesson.

Boo! You deserve pink magnificence!
Grrrrr, meara! That isn't right. Nothing short of exactly what you envisioned should be acceptable. That said, looking forward to seeing your fabulousness.
I am super needle avoidant. Haven't had any vaccinations since I wasn't under parental control. Until I queued right up for Shingrix because Shingles! Never had a flu, so no real incentive there. And of course the Covid vaccine as much for my responsibility to my fellow man as any concern for myself.
I was pleased with the mandates announced by Biden yesterday, and of course AG Garland. I know there is a lot of impatience with the current administration, but I would rather they took their time and got their ducks in a row than tweeting decisions on a whim. They have so much damage to undo from the past few years. A monumental task.
DH is home safe and sound.
Glad to hear that, Laura
I need to get my flu shot... maybe this weekend? I had a bad flu once, and no thank you. If I had ever been needle avoidant, I'd have gotten over it through exposure therapy during my annus hospitium. Pin cushion! Every day!
This morning one of my inner sanctum friends goes in for a heart cath, and may then need a stent, or (please no, universe) a bypass. Doctor said he has previously had a heart attack - there's scarring to indicate. Please send any spare -ma Maryland way that he gets the best outcome. I'm so glad he's being seen, though.
His biggest concern is the timing -- both his parents are having serious health issues, and he's supposed to get on a plane Monday to tag team his sister out. If it's a stent, he can do it, but not bypass, obviously. Man life comes at you like a freaking freight train sometimes.
Sending ~ma to your friend, Jen. Going to the hospital for anything these days has an added element of worry. I do have to say that heart cath stuff is super well-established routine medicine these days with excellent outcomes. Not a whole lot of fun for the patient, but generally very successful.
Thanks, Laura. Agreed, for sure. I had one when I was in that year (all the things went kafluey!), and it was super smooth. He's really most concerned about it in terms of impact on his ability to travel right now. Like, no one wants a bypass, but better to get one than not and not know you need one.
