It's turned chilly, so it might be a little while before they're out in force.
I was talking to someone from California and this will be his first cicada, um, experience. I wish him well.

Well, my doctor did not yell at me. He also didn’t even ask me about my last period... My liver levels are slightly elevated, so I think I need to stop drinking as much as I have over the pandemic. But it also may be related to my diabetes, which is still controlled with a normal A1C, which frankly shocked me, because I have been eating some chips. I was so anxious, I had really high blood pressure that went down after he didn’t yell at me.
He was glad I was getting out of the house and feeling better, so we will reassess my mental health at our next visit. I also have to have a liver ultrasound to make sure I don’t have a tumor.
I just saw my first cicada husk. Yay?
I don't remember which cat, but that *was* one of the gifts they could leave you on Neko Atsume. So that's nice, I guess.

We randomly had a few cicadas (in SD) a few years back. It was a very "WTF is making that noise?!?" experience.

My brother in NoVa just reported he spotted a cicada flying by earlier today.
ION, yesterday I saw my first hummingbird of the season here northeast of KCMO.
Are there cicadas in Western NY?
"Brood VII is the smallest periodical cicada brood in the U.S., and is isolated in the Finger Lakes area of New York State. This cicada has a 17-year life cycle. Sadly, Brood VII will likely be the next Brood to go extinct. Brood VII will return in 2035."
Timelies all!
We took Gary's mom out for dinner last night. It was the first time in a long time we had eaten at a restaurant. The restaurant was fine(although they messed up cooking Gary's mom's filet twice) but Mr. S was being very oppositional throughout dinner, and ran away from us in the parking lot. sigh...
I missed the cicadas, I guess. I was in Monroe County in 2001 and 2018, and they were in my home county of Livingston.
My neighbor has determined the reason why Mulder has apparently abandoned us. Well, we think he probably still comes home at night. He's a drug addict! She has some catnip plants that she puts outside during the day for her cats, but brings in at night since they would obliterate them if she left them out. She says he comes over in the morning for breakfast and to hang with her couple of cats. She feeds them all outside. She is totally chill about the whole thing and is going to give me some plants to keep here too. She said cats don't really belong to anyone and we just kid ourselves if we think they belong to us.

They're so fucking loud when they're at their peak (Maximum Cicada!).
