Punishingly Intricate

I'm so sorry, Cindy.

In the end it's only ever been one step, and then the next.

Oh, Cindy. I'm hoping that the treatment will be effective.

Oh well, I also think I should have been a heavy equipment operator when I grew up because I envy the girls running the cranes and stuff when I pass construction sites. I may just have other career envy in general.

My Aunt Barbara was a forklift operator, and one of my classmates in college worked with her. Her co-workers thought she was the coolest person ever, as a woman in her late 40s/early 50s slinging around tons of material on the warehouse floor with heavy equipment.

Our wings are not tired.

Matt, that's what I mean! The couple of women I have known who do this are mega cool.

I'm sorry, Cindy, and I hope his treatment and care are absolutely phenomenal and successful.

Happy Birthday, Laura!

Way to be, NJ.

Construction equipment is super cool. Considering how powerful I feel with just a weed wacker, I can't imagine how I'd do with serious heavy equipment. Cranes, baby. Up high and in charge!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I slipped and fell on an icy patch of sidewalk as I was going from my car to my building at work. Scraped up my right knee(and ripped my pants in the process), my forehead and got a big bruise on the back of my left hand. Have taken some Advil because I am sore.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yikes, Sheryl, that sounds painful and unpleasant! Hope the Advil helps and you can rest and recover some.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Sheryl, ice down wherever you hit (speaking from experience here).

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Prayers to your nephew and his family and to you, Cindy.

Ouch, Sheryl! Ice and ibuprofen yourself up for sure.

Hil, that sounds so immensely frustrating for you and the student.

I have been grousing at my computer all day, but now I think I should be relieved that the worst problem of the day has been that some doctor sent me a 20-page Word document to upload in little pieces to different files on a non-Word platform, but the document turned out to be simply teeming with nested tables. Hec recommend I boot it back to the doctor with some stern words, but I am 150% convinced that this doctor (like most of them) would have no idea what he'd done to create the mess in the first place and he's the last person in the world who could possibly fix it.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

JZ, from my personal experience receiving docs from Engineers, I would bet folding money that your assessment of the doc (and the Doc) is correct.

No fun, Sheryl! Hope the aches won't linger too hard.

So many good wishes and prayers for your nephew, Cindy.

And I hope a solution to reduce the frustration that you and your student are going through presents itself, Hil.

So, I had a recipe in the newsletter from my CSA that I was so excited to try, and put a not-insignificant amount of effort into, for a result that is very...meh. I'm so disappointed that I'm tempted to throw out the whole batch (muffins - unfortunately NOT minneola-flavored). They're not actually bad, per se, just meh. I hate to feel like the ingredients and the time were completely wasted. But I also know it's dumb to hang onto muffins that I don't particularly want to eat. (And yes, typing it out, I've pretty much talked myself into throwing them away. Guess I just needed to air my muffin grievances).
