Cindy, I'm so sorry. The internet tells me that it's very treatable and possibly curable, so I'm going to pin all my hopes to your nephew getting excellent treatment and being cured.
In a plate-of-shrimp, my DH found our copy of the paper cookbook yesterday.
That sounds very frustrating, Hil. I had never thought about that aspect. Is math an area of concentration for the student or does she just need to get through a couple courses? If it is going to be a focus in her degree then a better interpreter solution will be crucial.
Back to work with me. Yikes, so much to do this week. Truly insane amounts. I need to take some time off after this week is over.
Scrambled eggs: The recent Mars news just makes me wish I had selected a different career path. When I was getting my Accounting degree every single elective I took was Science because it was more fun than the business courses. Chemistry, Physics, even Biology. I figured since I was getting a BS it should have some science stuff. Oh well, I also think I should have been a heavy equipment operator when I grew up because I envy the girls running the cranes and stuff when I pass construction sites. I may just have other career envy in general.
Do you have a School or department specific ADA coordinator as well as the University level one? At the School of Nursing, ours works with the university level to get interpreters who are better at nursing/science content for us. Of course, they also read the lectures ahead of time and ask questions, which it sounds like this one isn't doing...
Oh, Cindy. I'm hoping that the treatment will be effective.

My Aunt Barbara was a forklift operator, and one of my classmates in college worked with her. Her co-workers thought she was the coolest person ever, as a woman in her late 40s/early 50s slinging around tons of material on the warehouse floor with heavy equipment.
Matt, that's what I mean! The couple of women I have known who do this are mega cool.
I'm sorry, Cindy, and I hope his treatment and care are absolutely phenomenal and successful.
Happy Birthday, Laura!
Way to be, NJ.
Construction equipment is super cool. Considering how powerful I feel with just a weed wacker, I can't imagine how I'd do with serious heavy equipment. Cranes, baby. Up high and in charge!
Timelies all!
I slipped and fell on an icy patch of sidewalk as I was going from my car to my building at work. Scraped up my right knee(and ripped my pants in the process), my forehead and got a big bruise on the back of my left hand. Have taken some Advil because I am sore.
