This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

Punishingly Intricate

We went hiking this morning and it was lovely, if a bit icey. I fell several times--once flat on my face while standing still (classic me) and then a few times on my butt. I'm not hurt at all, though!

Can I say something nice about a congressman? Jason Crow (of Colorado) is a combat veteran and, on Jan. 6, he helped others get their gas masks on, comforted an obviously terrified congresswoman and was the last one out of the chamber.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yay meara!

We're supposed to get snow/wintry mix starting early tomorrow morning and going all through the day. Sigh...

Y'all, I was reading a murder mystery and I accidentally spoiled myself for whodunnit by searching for something in the text but then I got the killer's name confused with another character's and spent most of the book thinking I knew the wrong person did it. Now I feel like I should re-read it, because my emotional reactions were just all wrong throughout.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Psst! Gudanov is Willy Wonka - pass it on.

Power came back on here after being off since 11am and the water pressure has upgraded from "nopety nope nope" to "not a heck of a lot". I have therefore thrown dinner in the oven for the first time in days. If the power goes out before it's done I'll just finish on the gas range in the Dutch oven.

Thrive to spite them

My mom's sister and her daughter and her family live in Texas. And cousins on my other side live there as well. My aunt lost power and her upstairs neighbor's pipes frozen and burst and water is...everywhere . Her daughter also lost power but they have a generator and she and her husband just recovered from covid so my aunt is going to stay with them.

I haven't heard about the other cousin's. They may have been traveling they've done that a bit this past year according to Facebook.

I hate that this is happening.

I am glad Rush Limbaugh died.

Chris glad you have power. Stay warm!

Yikes. And with all that crazy pipe bursting stuff it’s not like you can even feel ok getting out of town or something (which I remember my parents doing once when an ice storm hit and we weren’t going to have power for three days—after a day, as soon as you could drive again, they packed us up and headed out of town to a friend’s with power), even before you think of COVID and who you could crash with
