Thrive to spite them

My mom's sister and her daughter and her family live in Texas. And cousins on my other side live there as well. My aunt lost power and her upstairs neighbor's pipes frozen and burst and water is...everywhere . Her daughter also lost power but they have a generator and she and her husband just recovered from covid so my aunt is going to stay with them.

I haven't heard about the other cousin's. They may have been traveling they've done that a bit this past year according to Facebook.

I hate that this is happening.

I am glad Rush Limbaugh died.

Chris glad you have power. Stay warm!

Yikes. And with all that crazy pipe bursting stuff it’s not like you can even feel ok getting out of town or something (which I remember my parents doing once when an ice storm hit and we weren’t going to have power for three days—after a day, as soon as you could drive again, they packed us up and headed out of town to a friend’s with power), even before you think of COVID and who you could crash with

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have my sense of smell back! (Lost it with Covid.) I knew my sense of smell was gone when I couldn't smell the Yankee Candle, even when I put my face up close (unlit candle!) and took a big sniff. So when I realized I could smell my coffee this morning, I sniffed the Yankee Candle, and it was a full-on olfactory assault.

So now my sniffer works.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Excellent.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Had a brief scare that something had broken and we were going to have to turn off water, but it seemed to be a weird fluke. So far, so good. We did talk to a plumber who gave a couple of recommendations, including turning the water off when we go to bed.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I got "lucky" when my pipes burst a few years ago because the gushing water shorted out the well pump and cut itself off. When we flipped the breaker back on it was an instant furious waterfall. I wasn't expecting the force of it.

Hey. New board.

Psst! Gudanov is Willy Wonka - pass it on

I was just about to ask about Gud again. Is this in reference to something?

OK, yay for vaccination, power returning, and sense of smell being back. Those were good morning reads.

meara - Feb 18, 2021 6:58:15 am PST #3633 of 30000

Back at the vaccine clinic this morning for more volunteering. A little bummed I had to show up at 615 in order to then sit here for 45 minutes. But at least this morning I don’t need training. Didn’t have to get up AS early this morning because doggo is with a different friend until she drops him at daycare.

What do you/does one do there, meara?
