Gosh I love no-nonsense old ladies. It’s the goal of my life to be one - getting closer every day!
Surely a little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest flea.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

My coffee machine died yesterday, or at least the heating element did. It's now sitting in my utility closet along with the other coffee machine that died, where I keep my e-waste until I can be bothered to figure out how to recycle it. I decided to try a pour over coffee maker instead, so I've been drinking that this morning. It's good, but I'm not having revelatory experience.
If my electric kettle dies, I'm going to squint nervously at the universe and wonder if it's trying to get me off caffeine.
Rush Limbaugh has died. Wish I could say I didn't let out a little whoop.

No, if your electric kettle dies, that's when you fistfight God to keep that tasty tasty caffeine.
This is why I have three kettles (2 electric, one stovetop) and a stovetop Moka pot juuuuuust in case. You will pry my morning coffee out of my cold dead overcaffeinated hands.
(And an espresso machine and 3 French presses and 4 pourover carafes. I have BACKUP COFFEE PLANS is what I'm saying)
The universe had better not, shrift! Although you could always transition to cold brew at that point. Easy and tasty.
I am heaving a sigh of relief, Dana, I admit it. What a terrible human being he has been for an awfully long time.
I have approximately 1 billion devices of various kinds for making coffee lying around and also try to have instant coffee available for emergencies and I haven't actually had a cup in a couple of weeks. I don't know what that's about.
I have my reliable Melitta - both the four-cup and the one-cup versions - plus a stovetop cappuccino/latte maker, which I fear is coming near the end of its useful life. It's served me well and faithfully for quite a number of years and I use it to give myself a treat on weekends. I like a hot, foaming cup of coffee to dunk biscotti in.
On a different subject, I was watching a video about Chernobyl - the wildlife is coming back and seems healthy; most of the people remaining there - who refused to be evacuated - are old women. The Babushkas are sticking it out and seem to be doing all right.
